KGB (a.k.a. Conspiracy)
As a video game studies scholar studying adventure games, I would love to have a legitimate version of this game available on a reputable storefront.
please
+1
My disappointment is immeasurable that it's been this long and still no KGB/Conspiracy,
This was easily one of the most unique games of the classic adventure game era. The atmosphere is amazing and the multiple plot threads going on that could be easily missed made for a very replayable game.
I guess GOG's just moving more and more away from the original idea of OLD games.
There definitely should be more Cryo games (KGB included) on GOG!
This game was quite hard, with amazing story and gameplay, really an adventure deserved to be on GoG. Please bring it to us!!
Remember playing on Amiga. Great atmosphere. Should be on gog.
This adventure was really scary and immersing. It really felt like you were in a dangerous, brutal and unforgiving world (in fact, every misstep could mean failure). Plus, its setting was quite unique (being a post-communist KGB agent). I've read that the the FMV-"augmented" ("Conspiracy") version is to be avoided in favor of "vanilla" KGB.
This game was really difficult but had a great atmosphere. I still remember the music. For those who loved it, I recommend the original Dune game that has similar elements plus a very original strategy mechanic.
This was a BRILLIANT game. Awesome setting, hilarious (or scary, depending on POV) Soviet-era conversations (e.g. "If you are innocent, you have nothing to fear"). Mostly realistic, with a few sarcastic comments RE Soviet era technology and design, tying into a real-world plot (albeit in a bizarre way).
Most importantly, as a game it was so frigging hard! I love how the game has conversations and information that you can only hear or find out about by actually being in the WRONG place (i.e. where you will get killed or otherwise fail), making it extremely difficult to just save/reload for one section - as the previous poster mentioned, it may take hours of game time to figure out you've screwed yourself. Sometimes this is a bit dodgy as it's only in hindsight that you find this, but in general there are just enough hints to be able to figure it out. Gaming like this is very rare these days, with all the hand-holding and hints and such...
A truly underrated classic.
I own this game on CD but can't get it to run on Windows 7. I'd be happy with either this or the DOS version (KGB) without the FMV.
I must add my support for this to be released here on GOG. Please!
This game was just so easy to screw yourself up in, I loved it. You have to record a conversation but record the wrong thing and 2 hours later you are up shit creek. You have to hide a body but hide it in the wrong place and 2 hours later you are up shit creek. You get locked inside a room, but if you hadn't hid a weapon in there 2 hours earlier, well you get the idea... Simply amazing, but hard.
Even though I'm not a huge fan of point'n'clicks these days, I found this game to be deliciously difficult, but obsessively interesting.
I hope this is available, been looking myself!
One of the best point and click experiences in my life. In the gloomy world of perestroika, a KGB agent is unraveling the truth about glasnost, the battle of russia and his own troubles. Donald Sutherland gives advice and you meet one unsavory character after another as you try to solve the case. Trust me when I say it is difficult, but highly rewarding.
