tryssmagiscus This is/was certainly a unique and totally brilliant game. Flagship did a fantastic job at the start, but sadly the game didn't seem to be well enough supported to go any further than it did.
I don't play multiplayer games, but the single player experience was truly exceptional....out-of-this-world really! Few others of Hellgate London's ilk have come even remotely close to capturing the bleak post-invasion landscape and especially the atmosphere with stupendous ambient sound and sound effects. It made fighting for your virtual life against the demon hordes of the Occult rampaging uncontrollably across and beneath the city of London an absolute joy. Time after time I found myself almost compelled to come back for more and oh to be able to do it all over again!! Happy, happy, joy, joy!!!
The atmosphere and sense of menace and isolation when you "portalled" out onto the monster infested streets and countryside was absolutely unmatched in my opinion. The sound effects were brilliant too. I can't see its content feeling aged or out of place in today's zombie-filled gaming amphitheatre and I'd pay a handsome sum to be able to play this masterpiece once again. *sigh*
Such fond, fond memories. Please, please, please GOG geniuses bring Christmas early to us all this year!! The ultimate gift that just keeps on chilling!

Sterling5583 Okay, but only the original Flagship version, not the gutted and exploitative up HanBitSoft that chopped the game off after Act 3 and demanded you buy the 2nd half, again. Not the free-to-play version that forced you to play with other players, or else. Not the current version available on Steam. I don't even trust the VR rail shooter after how poorly everyone else has mishandled the franchise. The original, patched up, before it closed down the first time. That was when Hellgate was at its best, unless you count the community patches, like how Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines has a community patch included.

BurningSheep Really a shame how this one turned out. But the classes and their gear are still interesting and it's probably the only game where I actually care about how my character looks like. Nice and varied aesthetics in that respect. The interesting variety of guns is also a strong point.

DiBBz personally never played hellgate london but i defo remember it from way back, and after seeing how terribly broken the steam version is. if all the core problems could be fixed it would be a fantastic addition to the store

garceaj If you can get the original game, that would be great. There's a mod for the original game, London 2038, which revived the multiplayer function. Only the original game had DX10 support. Erich Schaeffer, the creator of Diablo worked on the original, which predates Borderlands by 2 years.

Starkrun Base game still plays well, and mods still exist.. but its in IP hell and *may never come here I'm afraid. While I would love this more then anything (and at any price) I highly doubt it can happen :(
