Gunmetal
I have recently discovered this game and I think it's awesome. It works fine in DOSBox too, and the Windows version might still be functional as well. There are two demo versions showcasing some of the levels and gameplay, you can find both here: www.dosgamesarchive.com/download/gunmetal/
I love it. I bought a copy from the US, but even running it on a VPC, it wont work properly.
One of the best games I have ever played. I have sadly been wanting it since i played a demo.
If it's on GOG, i'll be so very happy, as stuff on GOG effin works <3
This is a game that definitely needs to see the light of day again. It has better level design and gameplay features than most modern FPSs.
I still have a demo of this lying around. It has its fair share of flaws, but it does a lot of really cool things that I think mark it worthy of preservation. Exploring the levels is a joy, and while getting stuck in narrow corridors is annoying as hell, it's interesting to have a first-person shooter where you actually have to be spatially aware of your own dimensions. Definitely worth adding to the store, if only for its historical value.
Thank you Lytheon! I knew I wasn't the only one who knew this game.
For those that come, yes, this isn't Gun Metal by Rage Software, but Gunmetal by Mad Genius Software. Released in 1998, it is a first person shooter, in which the player controls an upgradeable hovering tank (RPV, Remote Piloted Vehicle) in different missions for the Nataka Corporation, a multi-planet conglomerate that controls part of a world in which the concept of a nation is unknown. Apart from the amazing gameplay, which includes a splitscreen mode for two players, along with online multiplayer options, the game has a trademark dark humor through its dialogs, loading screens and overall locations and interactions.
It's an underrated gem and it deserves to be known.

This is not Gun Metal, but Gunmetal from Mad Genius Software.
Correct - "Gun Metal" with space.
does the demo still run on modern systems? it's on nvidia's sitewww.nvidia.com/object/game_gunmetal.html
Ah, this is a classic that sadly fell between that awkward time between graphical rendition systems. There was a DirectX version that likely would have worked ages ago, but likely lost compatibility due to legacy features being given the boot.
