I just tried "Dune 4". It's a fan made game with a weird russian accent and uses some (not even all of them) graphics from Dune II. It's crap. Dune II is a competing copycat and inferior version of Dune I which started a little ahead of Dune II. Get the earlier one which came out on floppies. I posted detailed notes Dec 2015 in Dune I wishlist comments including how to fix up the sound a lot. It is an adventure game with strategy elements. Dune 2000 is a good RTS.

The 1st game was great for the time when was released, and the 2nd was very good but not as the 1st. Would love to add them here. Also the books and the movies were very good.

I hop on the site once in a while hoping that they add the Dune games, but still waiting. Defining moment of my childhood were the Dune books and games. It would be great to be able to get them from a reliable source such as gog.

There's actually a source decompilation project of Dune II that spawned a hi-res version with added features like queuing and the like; it's called "Dune Dynasty". But yeah, it'd be nice to be able to buy the game here.

I don't think GOG.com updates graphics, though. They only secure deals with the rights owners and release it to (hopefully) play easily on modern systems. Sometimes that requires extra compatibility work, sometimes not.
