Cyberpunk 2077 on linux
I know it's a big ask so don't ever expect to actually see a native port, but I would love to. For now Proton and Wine fills the gap. I have it on Gog, running alright, its funny to see Benchmark reports my Nobara 40 as Windows Pro 10 via Wine.
+1
I would like to throw my upvote for this. I bought CP2077 on launch from GOG and I recently switch to Linux and I would very much like to buy and play Phantom Liberty on it.
+1
+1 for a native version or at least something like a lutris installer.
I'm holding 60€ (or more) in my hand right now. I'll hold it until there is a native LInux version...
Windows is growing more and more ugly every day. Steam is also no alternative, being aggressive towards the devs...
so... how long do I have to hold that money until I can give it to you?
... its up to you! ;-)
Glad I bought on GoG to support the devs only for the GoG version to break every other update on linux when the steam version seems to just work. I'm struggling to find the will to get it working time and time again to continue my playthrough.
Shame in you CDPR it worked on proton, but not for those who supported you in 100% by buying GOG version :(
+1
I did +1 this, event if unlikely.
GOG does not seem to care about Linux, as they don't bother to support Wine/Proton as a target. Windows version of Cyberpunk2077 is broken in Linux since v1.62
Release an official native version, I only buy native.
Used to play on Stadia because there was no linux native version. After Google nixed Stadia and I got refund, still no native linux version to spend my money on. My guess is it will never come. Pity: would have liked to pay for base game and DLC(s)
+1
The Stadia version must already be a Linux port, so that could be released as soon as Google closes Stadia 2023.
It would be so great to have a native Linux version of Cyberpunk 2077...
I've changed to Linux and will never buy Windows software anymore.
Don't force us to use spyware infected POS like Windows. Linux is an only way to go. Furthermore, Cyberpunk 2077 is currently unplayable on Windows 10 for me. It restarts entire PC.
I really don't like saying this, but I wish I could undo my vote for this.
DRM-free games and Linux support should go hand in hand.
go for it, before steam is rule everything because of there good linux support
It's in CD Projekt Red's best interest to support Linux more. Just as Valve understands, relying on Microsoft for everything is incredibly dangerous, not to mention boneheaded. Port The Witcher III and Cyberpunk to Linux!.
+1 We already seen linux game with the REDEngine, it's good work. Go back to the futur.

I wish I would have bought CP2077 on Steam instead of GOG, at least Valve cares about Linux as a platform. If I could trade my GOG key for a Steam key, so that I could play CP2077 via Proton, I would in a heartbeat. I regret pre-ordering via GOG, thinking that I was giving more money to the devs. I should have supported the company that supports the platform I use.

The only reason I even run Windows is because of the gaming. Im probably going back to linux and using GPU passthrough as a workaround. Either way. I'd love to switch all the way over and leave windows behind. Please get more games for us on GOG. I'd quickly abandon steam AND epic if you guys actually pull that off.
We need this game on linux. CDPR Please
Or make the stadia version of CyberPunk 2077 available for GOG users (for owners of the game on GOG) to play via Google Stadia.
GOG deal with Google.
Fuck Windows, unless you want to run the game CDPR designed the PC version. Yes its super-buggy, but unplayable? Not even close. You just need the hardware to push it. Sorry for everyone on an underpowered rig sporting an inadequate gpu. To really see how awesome this game looks, get your specs up to the recommended level, you might just get to enjoy using your computer. Just saying.
Fuck windows
I am running linux and want to buy/play Cyberpunk 2077.
Same as with Witcher 3 - I just cannot understand why CDPR seems to be unable to publish native binaries for Linux.
They might tell people: "Releasing game binaries for Linux? No that is way too difficult. Our devs can't do this."
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a great example of a AAA title that is equally complex as Cyberpunk 2077, features the same demanding graphics and guess what: It's running fine!
Even if there is a lack of know-how at CDPR, you could always outsource this work to experts. There should be more than enough money to pay for it.
Another false excuse might be: "Oh, it is just not profitable."
Well CDPR, go ahead and ask Monomi Park (Slime Rancher), Campo Santo (Firewatch), Red Thread Games (Dreamfall Chapters) or dozens of other small indie studios. Maybe they need to teach you how they manage not to go bankrupt by native releasing Linux binaries. If they can do it, you can do it too!
The last logical explanation that I can think of is that they are having some secret contracts with Microsoft and Google to make their game available exclusively on their platforms. And this is just sad because it would be a contradiction to the "freedom of choice" and "digital freedom" that they announced for example in the trailer for GOG Galaxy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyYW9AOWh-8).
CDPR, you are playing with fire.
Most of your customers are here because digital freedom means a lot to them. For me personally, digital freedom also means to use an OS that is not spying on me for whatever reasons, be it just for profit or forced orders from agencies like the NSA.
If you stay ignorant and inconsistent like this, people will walk away. I hope you will not let this happen.
I very much hope that Cyberpunk 2077 can release a native Linux version. Considering that it is already playable on Google Stadia (based on Linux and Vulkan), there should be no technical barriers.
+1
they would have to release the source code to port to linux
Xyberpunk 2077 - Tux Ed.
Who Dares Wins!!
Even a DRM'ed platform like Steam supports Linux much better than GoG, that's a shame!
Stop supporting old consoles. Support the future. Support Linux
Please do all you can to support wine (staging) + Nvidia GPU.
since its working on linux with stadia already this shouldn't be a problem
I have already got a copy from gog and play through geforce now. But, the lags make it near unplayable. I wish CDPR release CP2077 natively on linux.
Instead to damage your Reputation with the version for old gaming consoles (PS4, Xbox one) and a lot of work, you could release a linux Version from Cyberpunkt. Especially since a linux version already exists for Google Stadia. ;)
I am sure this would be less work for you and this would have had a positive effect on your reputation. ;)
Bought it in steam because of proton but if you ever release a Linux Version vor even only enable a propper Vulkan renderpath i'll happily buy a second copy from you directly
PS4 1.04版 中的bug依旧很多,黑屏闪退,看不见的手枪和进不去的义体医院,时有卡顿,感觉确实不好,希望老兄们能再次进行更新
@Zatnuviz: It works in Wine-staging with vkd3d-proton. Make sure to install the later especially. You also need AMD card for it.
If it ever comes with native Linux support, I will surely get it.
I downloaded the offline installer and wanted to play in Linux but it installs and all with wine then I get a launch error, please add wine or linux support. I'll comment again and post the log file so u can work on it
Please, guys. Cyberplease on Linux
CDPR please ditch DX12 and go full aboard with Vulkan. Watch Doom Eternal, Baldur's Gate 3 and RDR2.
As of right now, this game is broken on Windows and unrunnable for me on Linux and I'm well above recommended specs. If it doesn't work on one of my OSes soon, I'm getting a refund.
Linux AMD GPU vega Mesa
