Where is the profile in Galaxy 2.0.
Am I stupid or you hid that?
This is a great start. I would have the option to show/hide a few things:
Show/Hide Played and Achievements - Linux customers do not have a Galaxy client to help measure these numbers. Many customer may not want to use the client and this portion may come across as a blight for their choice.
Show/Hide user tags. I have x amount of games but I would like to highlight my favorites or my backlog or which have you.
Profiles have now been announced: www.gog.com/forum/general/introducing_new_privacy_settings/page1
Profiles are definitely needed in Galaxy and they should be as close to Steam as possible. One of the main reasons why Steam is way more popular than GOG is because of Steam's robust profile features. I can't believe this wish isn't even listed as "in progress", especially since the Galaxy promotion videos from GOG outright stated that you would be able to display your Achievements to others. If GOG ever wants to make a significant dent in Steam's marketshare, thenrobust profiles on Galaxy are absolutely essential.
Basic profiles without going overboard like the current Steam ones would be nice.
This would be great!
I hope this got implemented. Especially for me to see all my achievements
I like the signature summary like on Whirlpool forums and Windows XP/Seven Forums and anything else resembling USENET style forum post signatures.
GOG has an add to contact friend feature though soley as I can see it based on reading a post contents.
Why not make it easier at least a little.
I no longer have any IRL mates down for regular LAN/download parties so making a network of compatible minded contacts would be nice.
Same here. I really miss user profiles (where you can check your friends games and then speak about it etc.). And game reviews in mother language like on Steam.
Such community aspects, like a profile, are probably the only reason why it's hard for me to switch from Steam to GOG.
Yes this is important and there is a definite need for profiles so we can find friends easier, see who is trying to friend us, compare achievements, look at time played in a game, kind of like steam but make it so we can customize our profile a little more at least, make it more friendly looking and more social than steam to separate yours from theirs.
a profile will be good, we can show us achievements, statistics, list friends, recent activity, favorite games, screenshots, change nicknames...would add more attractive customize features to gog galaxy
And list games with tags from library.
For example my friend can see some game that I completed in my library. Then he can ask me: hey, how are you did it? Please help me on level #32 :) .
It would be a joy to have a customizable profile.
I would like to have a really subtle profile, which shows me my friends games and their playtime as well as the wishlist of others. (Screenshots might be an optional feature but I guess it is not that necessary because not every game supports the screenshot function)
Would be great to have a profile, simllar to Steam's
Yes, please! It would be amazing to have a public profile.
I would like a profile too!
I would like to have a place where I would be able to see everything together, including my gog experience, which I last saw sometime during winter, since then I can't find it on page, nor in app. Stuff just seems too dispersed to me
Galaxy's community features are still so sparse. I have little connection with my friends in it, and little reason to try to connect. Galaxy should be a bustling hub of action. Please get these kind of community functions rolling.
1+
On profiles you could display hours, groups, rig info, friends, games list. First stage should be just basic profile info on the. Second stage should be integration with the GOG client (screenshots, videos, hours).
After Xfire closed its doors, there's hasn't been any serious alternatives.
Steam isn't an alternative - it is DRM, they don't fix bugs on the website, their website is super limited unless you own 100s of games and play their shitty card games.
Gametracker with its profiles is decent, but has a buggy client software so no integration, no regular users.
New to Galaxy (just today) and expected a profile system to already be there. I know Galaxy is in beta so it's cool, but I think this should definitely be a feature by the time it leaves beta.
Profile pls
I'd like to see a profile feature as well.
Super +1
very needed
A Profile would be great.
Is there currently any way to view unlocked achievements?
Yep, profiles would definitely add incentive to use GoG more often. And wouldn't it be nice to customize it too?
Steam does profiles well but there's a lot of improvements to be made there still, something GoG has the opportunity to outdo in the long run.
I'm sure GOG has more features in the pipeline in regards to profiles.
This would be ideal for online games. Play a game online on Rise of the Triad, view your recent players list, check out a person you enjoyed playing with, see on their profile they also play Aliens v Predator, send friend request.
Hell yeah.
A profile system is needed for sure. Achievements without a profile is just not the same if you can't share them.
I would love a profile to use on my twitch channel!
Come on GOG, there's no real reason why you shouldn't add a profile feature, as long as it's 100% customizable/optional.
Voted. Seems like a nice and harmless thing to add.
I too would love to see a GOG profile page for users who chose to Opt In.
This was one of the first things I looked for...I ADORE my steam profile, it shows me, and my games, my badges, my feed and...well...me. As both a gamer and my collection. I just wont be into this laucher for long if they do not add a nice profile for us to see a centralized place for others accounts. Without it, it's just a centralized launcher = so what.
I can see this feature going both ways for people. I personally only recently got into the Steam profile feature but I really really love it.
Just wanted to post a link to whatever I have on GOG and then I realized: Wait a minute... There isn't something, right?
Absolutely needed feature, especially for those of us wanting to transition away from Steam or at least for easing up on that dependency.
Voted! Its necessary to build a strong community in Gog.
This feature is like a no brainer. I would love to be able to customize a profile page or something like that.
Voted. Profiles are a good way for users to provide more information about themselves to others. Like Juliet_Bravo_3 said, they should be 100% customizable/optional.
I'd like GoG and Galaxy to build up a set of features comparable to that of Steam, and setting up a proper community is an important step. Try and stay away from monetizing profiles, and let us freely customize them.
Absolutely. I love being able to see what my friends are up to..especially to compare gaming achievements, hours, etc. I have a few friends that we used to always try to out-do each other in achievements..it'll be great to bring them to a profile page, and easily compare them
This should roll out automatically for starter. GoG should automatically create a profile 'page' for every registered user. Linked/ Merged it with the forum profile etc so that people can connect with each other within gog community without needed to go to forum first. This features will be helpful especially for newbie and importantly it allow people to familiarise the function within gog 'social network'.
100% customizable and 100% optional. We're all different, all unique and a "profile" should reflect that.
I agree a profile would be nice. I noted a complaint about the Steam ones and while I am not a Steam fan, those are user configurable. I find it fun to check friends profiles myself and have mine available for them.
Profiles is good option but I don't want to see same principles as like Steam or others has, at least not one by one. Looking forward to see brand new 'FLEXIBLE', innovator profile system as much as possible. Maybe modular style or something else...
@kaos_33, it seems like you don't want profiles simply because you don't like the way a different service makes them look or because you don't look at them. You know you can just ignore them if you're not interested in them. It's not like you ever have to view profiles if you don't want to.
NO. "New" Steam profile is total trash. I still prefer the old look, but I can't go back to it. I don't want that console style "I want to show you all I got". Definitely NO... or at least give me an option to keep the profile simple and boring. I play games. I don't check people's profiles.
