Offline mode
So annoying! My GOG Galaxy shuts down on Mac Sonoma 14.5 because it can't establish "a connection" any more. But I really need it to manage and organize my games. Please release an offline mode ASAP for GOG Galaxy. Otherwise: Steam, here I come (After +350 games on GOG).
This one feels kind of like a violation of gog's promises.
Yeah, DRM free games! Download and play offline!
Yet the other day I open up gog and all I see is:
LOGIN TO GOG GALAXY
So I can't use the client til I do, there's no option to skip this and just use it to launch the stuff on your system.
+1 :D
Even tho we can just use the offline installers, I like using Galaxy because it has just about everything in one place for me.
200% agree Galaxy needs an offline mode. Yes, if you create Start Menu shortcuts in Windows, you'll have shortcuts which you can easily find by using the Search bar on the Task bar.
But...
I deselected the install option to create Start menu shortcuts because I usually never use them. I know how to use Windows Explorer to find and launch games directly, so it doesn't stop me from playing my games.
But my question to the Galaxy Dev Team: How in the world do you have the Galaxy Client architected where it's hard (or maybe impossible) to launch offline. I Steam, as bad and intrusive as it is, has an offline mode.
Please add offline mode to Galaxy client soon.
If you want to have Galaxy 2.0 as a hub for all your apps, Being able to access them offline should be a must. My session and the data should be able to be stored within the up.
You don't even need a client to play GOG games, so it's no problem to play them offline...... this ist not the Epshit store!
Just click on your exe et voila the game will start.....
This morning I have no Internet on my PC, and I tried to play M.A.X. which I purchased from Gog, have installed, and which requires DOSBox. I tried the desktop icon and all the batch and executable files in the MAX directory and I couldn't get it to run. Even Steam let me run some games that I have installed. Kinda disappointed in Gog right now.
But you can play the games offline without the client. Just start the games from your hard drive.
I'm new to GOG 2.0 and was quite frustrated when I had an internet outage in my area. I couldn't see my GOG game library, just a blank screen stating "sorry, we couldn't load the data". I think seeing using the GOG 2.0 client without internet connection would be a phenomenal idea. Steam has an "offline mode" where I can see my library, even if I can't connect to the store.
This wish is badly written because it implies fundamentally incorrect things about GOG as both a company and a product. You can play your offline games without an internet connection. That's half the point of GOG - no DRM.
How, you may ask? It says "NOT CONNECTED", right? Where's the games?
Where they have always been. In the left hand dark grey column. Sort them with "..." or use Search to find a game. Clicking the game lets you manage its install, play it, etc. Alternatively, you can track down where GOG Galaxy put the games on your computer and launch them manually from the EXE files - even if Galaxy is not running. Again - no DRM.
"But that's not convenient! Where's my grid view?"
Well that's the thing. That's what your actual wish was. What you REALLY want is just for the "game shelves" GRID VIEW, currently part of GOG.com - an online website - and accessed via the Galaxy client's built in web browser (the white portion which says NOT CONNECTED when offline) -- to be functional when not connected to the internet. That's it. That's all.
And that's actually a quite reasonable request to have made, instead of falsely accusing GOG of making it impossible to play your games without an internet connection.
I hope they really add this or update it I have a friend who has gog galaxy but doesn't have internet but he should being able to look at his library of games instead of a blank or constant loading .screen because he does not have internet. I got gog galaxy to avoid client or not needing a connection hopeful they have this available before cyberpunk 2077
I dont see how this is an issue, if you already have the games installed you can play them without an internet connection. The only thing an "offline" mode would do is show you an install button that you couldn't use anyway.
This is ridiculous. There's still no 'offline' mode: I have games installed, and they're just a giant uncategorised list down the left of Galaxy. The ability to see my games as tiles on the right vanishes the moment I'm offline. No ability to sort, or sort by my tags, or any of that stuff. It shouldn't require a connection to the website to show my the tiles of my currently installed games. Trying to find things in the list on the left when you own 314 games is ridiculous. Trying to browse just your 'adventure games' or just your 'rpg games' is impossible without an internet connection to show a library page. Is it so hard to download a thumbnail, title, tag, so that installed games can be viewed, sorted, browsed offline?
I had to go to the programs x86 folder and open the .exe instead of using the gog launcher. The game worked but I didn't test if saves work.
Yes, GOG is being hypocrit here! My Galaxy won't start if my LAN card is active but my router doesn't have internet connection!
I'm living at my in laws, their internet is so bad, please in stall an offline mode so i can at least play games...
I was just looking for a way to run in offline mode like steam, I'm actually surprised this feature doesn't exist!
yes please add this. If I have no internet connect, I cannot see my game library. On Steam I can...
Galaxy doesn't require an internet connection by design. No need for an offline mode. If you launch the client without an internet connection it will work., but all the online functionalities will be unavailable.
Totally agree. GoG is all about DRM free which to me means completely independent of online once downloaded.
I think the client should be able to be installed offline from a backup and install offline backups of GoG games without ever having to go online.
I know the client is optional and you can still store backups through the old way but this would be really nice and convenient.
This is very good idea. It is the first thing that came to my mind when installing Witcher 3.
