Galaxy client for windows 7
+1
seriously? logged in after a year and my GoG client cannot be updated since I'm using Windows 7? wtf?
just to remember: clients for Win XP was developed DECADES after support ending. so why not Win 7? it's far better system than Win 8 you require
So, GOG as Microsoft, Google, Facebook and on and on.... do the same way. First buy, then we will piess you off, then you will must buy for once more. Anybody from GOG just read this? No, rather not. Who care about windows 7 dinosaurs? Fck them. They will die eventually. Yep guys, no more money from me.
Same for me. It's been a long time since I didn"t launch Gog and ... nothing.
I see updater & client in my task manager but they disapear soon after ...
hey guys, hope someone can help me because the installer is just stuck on a black window with a loading icon, my pc specs are: Xeon W3680, Asus Rampage III Extreme, 6 Gigs of Corsair Dominator GT and a Asus GTX 480.
Yes please keep this working for windows 7 :) . Just remember what GoG stands for... Good old Games..... This should always include good old operating systems ;) peace setup_galaxy_2.0.9.136.exe works well keep it up :)
Cheers Silentslider, yes this worked thanks for the link
No cóż, też się podpinam do zawiedzionych głosów. Dopiero teraz się dowiedziałem, że nie dy rydy już na Win 7.
Uważałem, że jesteście ostatnią normalną platformą. Smutek bardzo... :(
Most fresh version: content-system.gog.com/open_link/download?path=/open/galaxy/client/setup_galaxy_2.0.9.136.exe
I bought old games on Galasy from 19999 and cant download them anymore because of win 7 ? Is that a bad joke ? If i dont have access to my payed games, i want my money back !
Yes, please continue supporting Windows 7. Fsck Microsoft and whatever they say, this OS works perfectly for me and I feel no burning need to upgrade. I don't need all the fance shamncy Windows 1x crap. And this is Good Old Games. old games work just fine. on Windows 7.
Hi everyone, I still using Windows 7 right now since year 2013. Windows 7 rocking very stronger and still running. Zero problems for me so far. I say that Windows 7 operating system is the best one in the world right now.
I heard Windows 11 is very bad due to unstable Windows updates cause computers to crashing, hang up, slow down, etc. Almost like Windows 10 had some problems.
I had MSI laptop with Windows 10 and I did block Microsoft Windows Updates for good reasons. I find someone had same my MSI laptop when upgrade to Windows 11 and hurt performance and reduce battery life to 1 hour!
Reason why Windows 11 operating system should banned due to not passed strict quality testing that's already ruined performance, slow down on SSD, bad Windows updates and everything. Microsoft developers are not professional and act like reckless to mess with coding in operating system when built and release to public. I don't like Microsoft anymore.
I still have DELL computers come with Windows XP, all are working fine and rocking so far. I have right to refuse sell my old computers that come with Windows XP and I still love for to play old PC games on it.
Right now I have to looking at few computers which are support Linux operating system then I will move into Linux to use everyday in near future. Windows operating system will be no longer for me because I heard a lot of people complaints and very negative about Microsoft. Microsoft company is in big trouble right now. I heard people will take Microsoft company in court to face charge about unstable Windows operating system have many problems. I can't trust Microsoft anymore due to quality had gone down. :(
gog galaxy is trash now, the current version will not install as it complains that it has no internet access :(
Checked the firewall, looks like it's trying to check something in win8 network stack. Why do people want to use trash os?
I just joined GOG tonight because of this very reason. I am still running win 7 and have no intentions of changing that any time soon. (I have too much software that I use for photo editing, artwork, etc that win 10/11 has no support for) As StE*m are removing wi n 7 support for its platform, I have to find another solution for my games/work apps. I do have a linux back up on my laptop but for my main pc I really need to keep win 7 as active as possible. Despite its age, that machine has been a total workhorse over the years and we have upgraded the components we can, but I really baulk at mother board cpu upgrades just because ms is having a snit. I respect some people like win 10/11 but I dont and am comfortable using 7. After all, if it aint broke, dont fix it :-)
Even if GOG drops Galaxy support for W7 one day I wish they make sone kind of "lite" client without any new features that just lets just manage our games on older systems. Especially for downloading standalone installers because that's what I'm using Galaxy for. :P And I hope standalone installers will never drop W7 support for games that work on W7 right now or at least they let us download last W7 version of installers from our library, not only most up to date version like it is now.
I downloaded the latest version (2.0.67 2023 june 6), installed it and it seems to work now (who knows for how long).
I guess it's just another "good" example of GOG/CDP-s outstanding communication skills, they didn't say a word when it stopped working and didn't say a word when it worked again...
works on 7 pro, still got it and still updates every now and then.
I have never installed Gog Galaxy on my Windows 7 system. Why would I need it, when there are offline installations without DRM available.
Except for some games that needed DOSBOX tweeks and where I was too lazy to look for proper solutions so far everything thatI bought worked.
I never would buy any DRM title or game not supporting Windows 7 anyway. There more great games out there working on my system, then I ever can play even if I would do nothing else for the rest of my life.
And I often prefer older titles from a time, where games got ready to play to the customer to the modern era where they sell and then maybe or maybe not fix the games and deliver content.
Also new game usually have ingame stores that incentify producers to leave features out of the game to later sell them to you. And this does not make good games.
It works on Windows 7 without problems guys. I've checked few minutes ago.
Seriously??? GoG Galaxy won;t work with Windows 7??
This is unbelievable.
I guess I'll go back to buying my games on STEAM which -does- allow me to play my own games on Win7.
Never thought the day wouldf come when STEAM was my favorite platform, but I guess that day is here. I have purchased my last GoG game.
RIP GoG, you were nice while you lasted.,
This is how it could be done: Have one Windows 95, 98SE, Me, 2000, XP, Vista, 7 and 8.1 installation with all the latest updates. For up to Windows 7 there aren't any more updates coming along anyway, so you'd have a constant never changing system, not like the current Windows which gets all the updates and upgrades all the time (and, thus, is fluid, with potential incompatibilities coming along with those updates). Then, make a bare bone minimum client (maybe based of version 1.x of GOG Galaxy? Or even better, outsource a minimum base library and write a very minimum front-end around it) and have it download the right version of the game that is supported on the running Windows. Yes, this is an effort, as you'd have to check which games work on which version of Windows. But the effort would be a one-time thing, only older games must be tested anyway. This would make "Good Old" more real and retro then it is today. All of this should come without any guarantee of any kind, I'm certain the community will understand. You could even integrate a community function to discuss, how games could be made to run on every Windows version, and which version should be used. This of course makes it necessary for GOG to also provide older versions of games, that might be better compatible with older Windows versions. And if that's too much of an effort, at least make permalinks to older versions of games, known to still run on e.g. Windows 7, when newer versions clearly require, say, Windows 10. That way folks don't loose compatibility on their gaming PCs.
Good old games on good old platforms!
Cyberpunk 2077 is a game not supported on Windows 7 anymore. The crazy thing is, CD Projekt Red suggests GOG Galaxy to reverse into supported 1.31. What?! How a user is supposed to do that without Galaxy, are you nuts, CDPR??? It should either provide the client or the older version. Right now this is total mistreatment of customers and forcing us to download from pirates. And yes, yes, as Lord_Of_Dragons said, Steam does work, so what the Hell, GOG, why is Valve does better freaking job than you? Guess you do not ever want to rule the market after all.
I bought this way back on Windows 7, still want to play it as windows 7 WTF
Has GoG sold out to M$ as well :(
Amazing Gog advertises that it is for old games and has disabled support for Older systems, since Steam, Epic can, why not GoG no words :\
He could have at least left the last installer that works with Win 7 and so sure he will lose a lot of people and maybe he will learn that newer is not always better ;(
Question to the people does anyone have a working installer for 7 eg:2.0.51 Thank you in advance ;)
Steam is still working on Windows 7. Beware of competition!
Versions 2.0.30, 2.0.43, and 2.0.51 seem to be working on Windows 7.
https://www.gog.com/forum/general_beta_gog_galaxy_2.0/goggalaxy_and_windows_7_x64_support
cdn.gog.com/open/galaxy/client/2.0.51.86/setup_galaxy_2.0.51.86.exe
Install that version then don't update when it asks. I haven't tested everything, but so far it's working for me as we speak, on W7.
Well, I was hoping for a solution. Then, I found one.
Uninstalled. Hey, look! Standard executables! Works just fine.
Why doesn't function with Windows 7, i bought games and I want to play it. I want a solution. I don't want to change my OS. If is a web with old games, why don't play with old OS ?¿
Would make sense to have a barebones compatible version for Windows 2000-Windows7, considering the name of the store is about old games. Don't know if it is that possible, and I know that there are risks with having old OSs, but many machines are too old to run Windows 10 or even support it. I have two such laptops and they run PS2 era games pretty fine. This is the biggest problem with platforms like Steam GOG and EPIC: I have to update my machine in order to run the client app, or else I can't use the software I paid for. This is why I still consider fisical copies and even piracy an alternative for such walls.
Good "Old" Games?
Please, this is "Good old Games", i have many old Machines, where i want to run the games with cloud saves. Please make Galaxy available for at least Win 7.
Please GOG, release Galaxy for Win 7, even if it's a smaller version.

Please back Glaxy support for Windows 7.
What the heck happened to Win 7 support? isnt it good OLD games???
Please back Glaxy support for Windows 7.
It's hilarious, and sad, that good "old" games doesn't have a launcher for Windows 7.
Good old games, but you can't play on a slightly old OS, this is crazy fix this. plenty of people still use windows 7
No Windows 7 support. This is ridiculous GOG. Fix this ASAP!
@Bluetick1000: Same here. Once Galaxy stopped working for me and I learned about this, I stopped buying games on GoG. I use to buy games I already had on Steam, but I sure the hell ain't doing that anymore.
No Linux or Win 7? I guess I have misunderstood the mission of gog. Has CD Projekt been bought by Microsoft?
I will buy no more gog games until they remember what made them what they are Good Old Games that run best on "Windows 7" you can sell new stuff but don't forget who made you in the first place.
Game time isn't being tracked since the last update, Steam is fine. This is bad form GOG. Fix this!
Updated GOG Galaxy on my Win 7 gaming PC and now it doesn't start anymore. Thanks for nothing, GOG.
WTF with GOG Galaxy 2.0? Steam, Epic, Uplay, Blizzard work with Win 7 and you dont. You have to!
