Allow users to stay with Galaxy 1.2
Echoing all other sentiments here. Can no longer install games previously purchased to run on my Win 7 GoG (older games) gaming system.
Galaxy used to run perfectly--but is now broken for those of us wanting to play "Older" games on the systems for which they were designed!
This needs to be fixed immediately to restore GoG's sinking credibility.
Totally agree!
I cannot use Galaxy 2.0 on macOS 14 (that is, without continuous issues such as stuck downloads, freezes, etc...).
Please either bring 1.2 back, or make 2.0 work!
Galaxy 1.2 is simple, but very functional, I want it back
I prefer this old simple client. Give us an option to use it instead. Call it "GOG Galaxy Classic" or something.
Please don´t delet it!!!
restate gog 1.2, now!
GOG Galaxy 2.0 is very bad. Games not Running, Galaxy 2.0 is bugy.
Galaxy 1.2 was nice and simple, 2.0 has too much features I don't need. Please allow to use 1.2 or make "Lite" client for people who don't need integrations and other bells and whistles.
Agreed
After being angry at Galaxy 2.0 and hardly want to play any Games on GOG, I finally installed 1.2 today. How can 2.0 after all the time still be so slow? Updates won't work correctly, it loses the connection to the plugins all the time, the login the cpu usage is a joke etc. What's going wrong here?
+1
1.) Fire those mentally defective programmers of Galaxy 2.0
2.) Keep Windows 7 compatibility (will be solved by 1.) )
horizon zero dawn crashes all the time due to gog 2.0 service unstability
GOG Galaxy V 1.2 is available here, you need to unistall 2.0
content-system.gog.com/open_link/download?path=/open/galaxy/client/setup_galaxy_1.2.67.58.exe
back to v1.2 since 2.0 fills my error log with "The GalaxyClientService service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 2 time(s)."
GOG galaxy 2.0 is provides a great study subject on how interfaces should NOT be. It's still got its fair share ofbugs even in 2022 (example, I apprently own a game called "unknown" which can' t be interacted with but also cannot be removed from my history) Moreover, its platform integration system is flawed and was a bad idea to begin with. Please allow 1.2 version for direct download and provide basic support on it. I cannot believe this hasn't been done yet.
>>>I prefer this old simple client. Give us an option to use it instead. Call it "GOG Galaxy Classic" or something.<<<
This. Please.
I prefer this old simple client. Give us an option to use it instead. Call it "GOG Galaxy Classic" or something.
I cameback from 2.0 to 1.2 its SO MUCH BETTER !!! 2.0 is a pure garbage mess, you should let two option, one for 1.2 and one for 2.0.
Windows 7 4 life!
Upgrading to 2.0 is a stupid risk. I can't log in, wasted 2 hours, I will never shop on gog again! steam is the better option, asshole!
I cannot get Version 2.0 to install, no matter what I do. Can't access the games I own--very frustrating!
If I can't get 1.2 working again, I will have to leave my 23 games and Gog forever. 2.0 is a nightmware. Nothing will install no matter what I do.
I think the old version is so much more visually appealing. If your target audience for a launcher/store is one that mainly plays classic games, its weird to make a launcher look completely modern and clean and have no personality. The old one did and it fit the games you play over it perfectly.
This is actually in violation of GOG's policy of opting out of Beta testing.
Oh dear, you've run out of devs to work on this, because you're pressed to do other things? Well, it's Still only a janky Beta, so why am I Not opted out?
keep the 1.2 version alive pls
While I appreciate all of the features bought on by V2.0 ... Ultimately I don't want them in their current state.
First, it's just way too much, it's not at all a nice way to look at my library across platforms of hundreds of games, it's just clunky and hard to use currently.
Second, on my laptop I don't want all of that. I want a streamlined minimal interface that isn't eating up precious processing, graphics, and battery power.
Third, I think we all want some choice. If you're going to make a severe change to your UI like this then also implement the ability for users to modify it to their liking. Give me an option to disable or prune social features. None of my friends are on GOG and I can't convince them to bother, I don't care about ANY of the social features and don't want them. Please consider this.
keep the 1.2 version alive pls
I agree
Powinno się módź cofnąć do wcześniejszej wersji gog galaxy!
been with GOG since before the 1st launcher was made, loved the first launcher but the 2.0 is a hot mess of garbage, i just want a GOG only launcher, i can't tell it to not see any microsoft store games (like Forza) but it refuses to play them, tried playing some steam games through it (like Halo MCC) but it either won't launch them or tries to launch them through a different platform (eg: Halo MCC to gog is a windows store game and tries to launch it there but because i don't own it there it won't launch)
Please just allow us to have gog games only, don't care about the friends integrations and all that useless jazz, i don't need trophys and other stupid epeen junk!
I didn't know about this issue before buying my first game on gog. (My reason for buying on GOG was initially that it was not steam, and I could use standalone installers.) Another, specific reason was, that I wanted to try a game's experimental branch. And for that I needed Galaxy. It is a freaking nightmare. Ridiculously slow, buggy, and the one feature I needed from it - namely access to various versions of a game, and the ability to up- and downgrade to those versions - is severely broke. Galaxy crashed on me several times, forced an auto-update of itself, which then reset my settings, and forced an auto-update of my game in turn (the hell?!)... Long story short, I started foruming, and found the old installer, and the tricks needed to stop that one from updating.
1.2 is semi-usable, at least. But sheesh, this is a piece of crap software - and apparently it has been for the two whole years of its existence.
Don't force it down my throat pls.
I'm severely disappointed in the direction this company is taking. Will buy elsewhere probably.
Gog 2.0 sells itself as "running on MACOS 12 onwards." but after install it says you need MACOS 14... I need either the old GOG 1.2 or for the 2.0 to work as described or my money back....
The old client was better for people who just want to use it as a GOG games launcher.
I have been away for a year, not using GOG, and I see this is still an issue... Too bad I lost my 1.2 installer :')
I really miss 1.2 as well.
It should be an option to keep using Legacy Galaxy.
Wait, we weren't able to already? This should defo be a thing
I completely resent Galaxy 2.0. It has done nothing for me but create hassel and clutter. Easy to find buttons from 1.2 are gone, displaced or just lack. The "visit storepage" has been greyed out for the entirety of its lifespan on my pc, and I am in no mood to fix it anymore after a few good tries of troubleshooting. I find it very much not intuitive and for that reason I went back to 1.2. Finding and installing 1.2 is not much work, but that I have to google it and use backdoors to stop it from updating remarks for me the shift in policy from user-oriented to 'we want to play with the big boys' from GoG's team. Please just stick with the small nihilistic mindset you started as.
I completely agree with the topic. GOG 2.0 is really unstable, it has made buy less from GOG than I used to.
If you don't give people options, people will feel frustrated and look for other platforms
Either make galaxy 2.0 compatible with windows 7 or allow people to install and use galaxy 1.2
i would love GOG 1.2 to stay or GOG 2.0 to support windows 7
Since GOG Galaxy doesn't have support for controllers like the DS4 or Switch Pro Controller I have to use Steam, but my controllers don't work with Galaxy 2.0 yet the DO work with 1.2, so please let us have the option to choose which version to use.
Let's be honest. GoG changed. From user oriented to another data grabbing entity. For me 2.0 doesn't even start anymore, even from a fresh install. Back to manual updates I guess.
It has a plus point. Either more money i the wallet due to stopping to buy games from GoG or opening horizons to other stores like Epic.
We'll never get 1.2 back as it doesn't gather as much data as 2.0 and is therefore not as useful for data grabbing purposes. My guess would be it's only a matter of time until the 2.0 (or higher by that point) is mandatory and DRM free is but a nice memory.
I didn't played/bought anything from GOG since 1.2 was replaced with 2.0. It's been years.
I heard that 2.0 is very buggy, that it even can't install/launch games. Or that games are sometimes dissapearing completely from library. Or that you need internet connection for offline games, where in 1.2 -from what i heard- you could play without internet.
Also, i liked 1.2's interface. Idk if game needed cross-platform friend list or if GOG's players asked for that, but definitely nobody asked for buggy platform that can't even launch it's own games.
In this case i decided to simply wait, till galaxy will go back to 1.2, although now i don't think it's gonna happen.
Primo, if they would revert it, even as a temporary solution, they would do it long time ago.
Secundo, i've never heard of any dev team reverting something to previous version. Maybe it's me who didn't heard much in world, but even if any revert would be possible, probably nobody would do that, because they didn't worked AND released any big update to revert it.
Also, i don't know if reverting version, even if it would be possible, wouldn't erase some players' data. Maybe even if would remove games bought through 2.0? Idk, i'm not computer specialist.
Anyway, i'd like to buy some old games and play them, but till i will keep hearing about 2.0 bugs and issues, i won't download it.
So probably i will never play on GOG again, because i'm 99,9% sure that devs won't revert Galaxy to 1.2, even if they wanted to, and none of players' demands and wishlists will change it.
Such a shame...
2.0 is so bad I have uninstalled it, and I will not buy any more games from GOG unless you allow users to stay with 1.2
What the title said
For suspicious and misanthropic people like me, whom never ever play on-line games, who doesn't have a single online friend, for whom privacy is very very very important, and whom doesn't care about cloud saves, trophies, achievements, internet presence, or any other lures to snag you into giving any kind of information to big companies; a thing like GOG Galaxy 2.0 is pointless.
I also think that GOG should protect our freedom of choice and not make us use the damned thing just because they can force us to use it.
I think this is very important. GOG supports freedom. This choice should be available. I stopped using GOG because of forcing users to use GOG Galaxy 2.0
Yes, please! 1.2 for simplicity.
Galaxy 1.2 is so much better, I love the simplicity of it. That's what drew me to GOG in the first place! 2.0 just causes so much unneeded bloat.
1.2 is the best
