The Citadel

The Citadel hits the perfect balance of mutual high lethality gun fighting. You can and will get killed extremely quickly if enemies catch you by surprise or your concentration lapses, but you kill them just as quickly. There are no irritating bullet sponges to be found here. This combined with the ability to lean around corners and tactically approach encounters is rather F.E.A.R.-like and it's pulled off incredibly well in this boomer shooter context. Movement is very fluid, with the high movement speed you'd expect from a shooter of this style along with the ability to double jump and slide. Hitscan doesn't exist in this game, so it's possible to run from distant enemy fire instead of being forced to take chip damage. The Martyr herself is very sexy but on the whole the game isn't particularly lewd. More than anything, it's eerie and ominous in tone with a great soundtrack and focused aesthetic establishing a feeling of dread, tension and isolation. Pick this up if you're looking for an interesting, unusual and tightly designed shooter.

I loved the game The Citadel. I know it's inspired by Doom, which is a game I know little about, but another game of the same style that I played a lot and is part of my childhood was Alien Trilogy, which when I played The Citadel, reminded me of some things, besides, both are inspired by the work of H. R. Giger. I discovered The Citadel by chance, a video caught my attention because of the title that talked about a controversial game, which sensitive and victim-oriented people hated, and as we know, when these people don't like something, it's because that something is good. I immediately fell in love with the game's setting, story, and protagonist Martyr, oh... what a perfect creature, my new waifu, eh eh eh. One thing I liked less was the story being poorly explained in the game, I understood because I researched and saw interviews with Doekuramori who is the developer, and also the fact that the game closes suddenly.

This game is simple, brutal, gory, and most importantly fun. But the NUMBER 1 thing it has going for it is the atmosphere, the game's setting is dripping with interesting vibes. Don't let the art direction dissuade you from trying it.

A very competent boomer shooter that engolfs you with its oppressive ambience. You are a martyr sent to this world to kill angels and kill a god! Edgy enough... everybody is frightening from the outside but an anime girl when you spill their guts onto the floor, accompanied with their screams of pain and misery. The atmosphere is compelling, instigating and well done - even if the screenshots of this game do not honor what the act of play it really represents. It's mysterious, it's unconfortuble, but its extremealy fun. Its a short and sweet game that compels you to kill anyone in your sight, making you feel very powerful - but do not fool you thinking is a easy game, because in higher difficulties the game tends to be a litte unforgiving to mistakes. It is a great game and I am eager to get the sequel when it launches here!
