Sea Legends

This version available on here has no setup program available which does not allow you to configure the game's sound output, which means there is no voice acting which if I recall correctly the CD version contains. But even if I'm misremembering as it's been over 15 years since I first played Sea Legends, this version that GOG supplies barely plays. The mouse movement is off-kilter, moving twice as fast on the horizontal as on the vertical, and the game gives you 0 access to the setup program that all these old DOS games come with, which means you can't select a different sound output than the default one GOG used for the version. As such, you're basically stuck with a midi soundtrack that doesn't really do the game justice. The terrible controls that gog opted for make the game nearly unplayable, and the lack of voice acting ruins what little nostalgic appeal this game might have

I got it when I was a kid and... it was a great adventure! The main plot is quite a challenge involving many twists and interesting characters, but there is much more than just a single story. You can trade, you can board ships, you can take part in great naval battles, you can search for treasures! This game is a real sea legend :)

One of the worse clones of Sid Mayer's Pirates. Cumbersome controls, unfriendly saving mechanism, uneven difficulty, no tutorial... The best thing I can say about it is, it works and if you want to be reminded of how much the world has changed since then, often for the better, it's one of the best examples. It wasn't world changing back then and today I wouldn't even call it good. I would recommend buying only to the fans of this particular game, certainly not the genre as a whole. Then again, I counted myself amongst both before playing it again after all those years. Not that I regret buying it... Just a word of warning, I guess.

Любимая игруха детства. В поселениях просто рисоваая картинка, в морских боях - трёхмрная досовская графика. Карта Кариб проработана полностью, а не несколько стандартных локаций, как в маунт энд блейде. Крепкий сюжет. Из минусов - нет сюжетов за испанцев или французов. Также, на мой взгляд, у игры есть огромный плюс. Обычно, в играх про парусники, на самом деле, в днищах кораблей встроены сверхминиатюрные атомные реакторы и винт, а паруса являются бутафорией, т.к. по факту корабли движутся совершенно независимо от ветра. А в этой игре реализовано управлени именно парусным кораблём. Направление ветра - ислючительно важно. Скорость ветра - важно. Конфигурация парусов - тоже важна. Против ветра можно плавать только зигзагом и на правильных перусах. Когда читал наизануднейшие работы Мэхна - в голове иллюстрация работала именно картинкой из "легенд". Это же является своеобразным минусом. Хочется иногда поиграть во что-то парусное и новое. Лезешь на ютуб. Смотришь на прохождение. Видишь, что корабли движутся на основе скрытого в днище атомного реактора и винта. Закрваешь ютуб и смиряешься с тем, что в этом десятилетии игроделы, судя по всему, опять не сделают годной игры про парусники. Уж очень высоко "Морские легенды" задрали планку. А, может, мне просто не попадались годные парусные игры. Странно, что нет русификации. У нас выпускалась русифицированная версия. Было бы годно, если бы получилось её прикрутить.
