Howard Phillips Lovecraft (August 20, 1890 – March 15, 1937) was a highly influential American writer of weird, science, fantasy, and horror fiction. Called “the loner from Providence”, he is best known for his series of books and short stories that gave birth to the so-called Cthulhu Mythos. According to Lovecraft’s philosophy, humanity was an unimportant part of an uncaring cosmos that could be swept away at any moment. To support this point, his stories included fantastic creatures and science fiction elements that showed the fragility of our civilization as well as the thin red line that separates sanity from madness.
