Such a wonderful game :)
Wandersong was a surprise hit for me. It came out of nowhere (for me in any case). The tone and writing of the game are fantastic. There's such a happy and positive feeling woven throughout, even when things look bleak. There's humor and jokes but there were also several moments where the writing really hit really close to my heart. I really liked the fact that each act had a distinct setting and theme. Each one develops the world and story a little differently. Mechanics-wise, the developers were able to twist the way the basic "music wheel" is used in each of these acts and avoid repetition. Overall each act felt really fresh and was a great experience. The soundtrack is fantastic, which feels like a must-have in a game revolving around bards and music. Once again happiness and positivity really shine through. Special mention if, like me, you suck at rhythm games. I was afraid there would be some rhythm puzzle thingy at some point (because music game) and was initially scared when a "guitar hero" segment started. Fortunately the game is really really really accomodating. You'll get a frowny face but not much else in the way of failure on these songs :) Overall this is a game that wants you to have a good time and in this it succeeds completely. To my surprise Wandersong has ended up as one of the best game I have played this year. I hope you'll enjoy it too :)
