Have beers and tissues ready for this
In my personal opinion, VA-11 Hall-A is a real gem! It's story, art style, and music stays true to classic 80's anime such as Dirty Pair, Dominion and a bit of Bubblecum Crisis. Amongst many others. As such, it boasts of a more "rough" humour than later generation are familiar with. The game tells the story of Jill, a 27 years old barkeeper woman in the late-night bar VA-11 Hall-A, serving drinks to her oddball clients. The player has half a month (December) to earn money for buying things in order to keep Jill focused on her workplace, paying electricity bills and app subscriptions, as well as her appartment rent at the end of the month. While the game does not have "dialogue" choices typical associated with Visual Novels, there nevertheless exist *6* different endings. Which can be unlocked by the player, depending on how well Jill mixes drinks, remembers her clients favourite liquors and whenever she's able to pay for her rent. After finishing the game, players have the choice of a New Game+ mode where already earned money is transferred. Nevertheless, Jill still has to pay her bills in a NG+. All in all, the game boasts of nowadays uncommon, non-political correct humour and has a rather sweet (alas sad) plot story to it. Recommended for casual players and anime fans who enjoy reading about the day-to-day life of believeable, loveable, oddball characters who fight for a happy ending in an dystopian future.
