Needs a lot of updates

IMO: - The graphics are ok. - The zoom-ability is nice. - It is an old-fashioned Transport-Tycoon-esque sim, which I was looking for and somehow got... not so good IMO is: - the clunky UI: it is not really helpful despite being minimalistic. Some windows are waaay too small, some info is hidden behind too many clicks/menus. Also: why can't I rotate a building with my mousewheel? Why do the WSAD keys not work all the time? They seem to get stuck by some of my interactions. Why can't I scroll to the right with the mouse, but can to the left, up and down?!? - the track-building tool needs dire improvement: how about an option to stick to the terrain instead of severely carving into the terrain or raising insane embankments? Some tracks/routes are not available for the player until they can afford a 10mil.€ track with just a medium distance. Too often it creates a sensless bridges in places where there is just a slight valley OR proposing a tunnel through a tiny mound. To have the choice of a tunnel/bridge/embankment OR to deal with the consequence of a slow train on a slope is champion here. OR at least show me why the track tool locks me to the decisions it makes. - "game-logic"-wise: why do the factories/ressource buildings not start delivering their goods to my newly built trainstations? Why I do have to wait 2-3years till they start delivering anything? Time in which I run my company deep in the reds. - The inner-city passenger transport seem redundant since no real money can be made, not even on a second or third level. i.e. to offer transport to your passenger train seems not to work or is not intended. - making money at an early game seems quite imbalanced. From playing TT/OTT over many years I know it takes time and wise decisions BUT the costs for trains are immense and rickshaws do not generate money (nullifying staring at your screen unmoved and waiting) - the loan system is too simple: how about 3 options with varying rates, optional repayment time, roll-over credits and/or periods. - on the part of the logistics the game is so far ok. A little bit too simple for my taste but thats just my opinion. Tech-wise I haven't so far encountered any CTDs or anything near this. Conclusively I would say it is a good start and fertile basis for a pretty good game (like a modern TT/OTT), but in it's current state rather bland and boring, because it does not replicate the finer moments of TT/OTT.

2018's Perfect Model Railroad Sim

I have no experience with earlier versions of the game, but as it is now - in 2018, after its significant UI and stability update - it is a magnificent transport tycoon game. While the tutorials and voice acting are unforgivably condescending and long-winded (which thankfully can be disabled), and the campaigns are tedious at best, the free play mode is an ideal sandbox and will represent the bulk of time investment with the game if you have the dedication to augment the experience yourself. --- This is is a game for people who enjoy both the challenge of logistics routing / management and watching trains haul things, because there's a lot of that. Trains will haul cargo through vast open valleys, rocky mountains, parched desert lake beds and european farmland on their way from town to town to be sold for profit, granted you designed a profitable route. It all looks great in motion, and the reward is meeting the demands of towns that will grow dynamically in response. --- Like any hobby, this game requires an interest in tweaking things under the bonnet to fully enjoy, and GOG users will have to contend with some quirks to complete the experience. For example, mods mysteriously require a "_1" suffix appended to their root folder names in order for the game to recognize them. It's best to use the unofficial mod manager (TPFMM) rather than acquire the mods online yourself, but some mods cannot be acquired through its database - particularly from the Workshop. In order to download those exclusive mods, you (GOG users) will need SteamCMD, the appropriate AppID (which is 446800), and the ID for the mod you want (found in the web address for the mod's Workshop page). There's a bit of file management involved, but the exceptional modding community make it worthwhile, as they provide additions both supplementary and necessary. --- Discover the depth of this community and the game for yourself, if you're enticed by the idea of a new hobby in the form of a game.

Awesome yet uncomplete game.

I spent 12 hours in game already and it only felt like a couple of hours. Great immersion, great sense of details. I am personally really enjoying playing Transport Fever. This game is in my eyes what a proper sequel of the Railroad/Transport Tychoons should have been. It requires careful management, intelligent planning, it takes time until your work finally pays off, but when it does, it gives amazing freedom to develop further (still with careful planing). I don't give 5/5 because I am annoyed at a couple of things 1: No road traffic lights. Only for railroads. That is annoying and it breaks the immersion in my opinion 2 : No One way roads (same as before) 3: I think freeways and toll roads should have been added too 4: More optimization could not harm the game YET, it still runs quite fine on my computer (GTX 970, 16 GB RAM...) and I still plan to spend countless hours on the game :)

Jumped on the hype-train going nowhere

Firstly, this game needs a lot of optimization. I have huge FPS drops even with a fast CPU. It looks good in the beginning, but as soon as you fill the map with movement, the level of programming will reveal its true nature. Unfortunately, the developers forgot to mention this issue before launch. Secondly, the train logic and consequently the gameplay is nowhere near that of openTTD or Locomotion, which are the Train games I'm familiar with. Thirdly, please never ever pre-order games!
