Stick it to the Man!

It's rare that you see an indie game with so much attention to detail put in it. It is a little on the short side but I don't think being any longer than it was would have improved it much. It's a sort of point and click adventure game..... only it's not. You control your character through platforming and point at stuff with his special pink psychic arm that can read thoughts and grab stuff from people's minds. The music is great, the voice acting is amazing and where this game really shines is the animation. You are a 2d paper drawing in a world made of cardboard and your psychic arm can peal away layers of it at various points in the game. Everything is hilarious and not once has a joke fallen flat making the game lame, it's "laugh your butt off" funny till the very end. It is very much like one of those not so innocent 90's Nickelodeon cartoons with a bit of edge to them, the same appeal psychonauts was going for. Puzzles are pretty simple but not once will the game treat you like a moron giving you obvious hints. I think this game may have had poor publicity or something because not a lot of people know about it, it could become one of those cult videogames that sell bad at first but will always be remembered. If you see this on sale don't hesitate to get it and reserve an evening or two to go through the story and enjoy the ride, it will get you feeling all fuzzy inside.

I just finished playing Stick it to the Man, and can highly recommend it. At first, I got interested by the art, which looks a lot like Psychonauts, and you can clearly see inspiration from that game (I had a hard time to not think of a certain turtle as Mr. Pokeylope). The game itself is fairly short, i completed it in one sitting, but i had fun all the way through. Basically, its the platformer puzzle game that The Cave tried to be, with more fun, cutscenes, lots of dialogue, and all the boring parts cut out :).

Stick it to the Man is a very enjoyable game, interesting direction, art, characters while following good ol' fashion platformer, point & click, puzzle gaming. It feels like your in a childrens pop up book/ graphic novel which was a unique experience that I never played before. The game is fun, good puzzles, not to challenging except for annoying enemy challenges that have some agitation, the art is well done, the concept enjoyable, and the characters and dialogue will put a smile on your face. The bad news is it is short, I mean very short for the price it's asking. There is no side quests, no extras after the game ends, just a straight forward game. I finished the game in six hours, not in one sitting but finishing the game in six hours after you paid $14.99 is not a good investment. So for all who are reading this I suggest putting this game in your watch list and wait for it to be put on discount. It is a good game folks, one that you will enjoy if you need a pick me up when multiplayer or complex games are too frustrating. Just not at $14.99. I would give it a 3.5 but a 4 is fine. If you're looking for a truly original game and like absurd, off-beat humor, Stick it to the Man is your game. It's funny, clever, and has a very unique central idea. Unfortunately, it's also rather short, and very simple. If you want puzzles that really make you bend over backwards to solve them, look elsewhere. This is just a fun, simple diversion from "heavier" titles.
