So Much Potential
I was really looking forward to playing this game. The features the developers promised sounded like the best ways to improve on the original (which was amazing, but I'm not reviewing the original). They promised "HD graphics running at 60 frames-per-second", but I had to choose between them. When I started the game, it was beautiful, but ran so slow, it was almost unplayable. The only solution I was able to find online was to lower the graphics, so it would run faster. It wasn't HD anymore, but I'll only take off one star for that, as I came for the game-play. The game itself was amazing. I loved the gadgets both in the levels, and in the "Metroidvania style overworld". Hunting down all the costumes hidden throughout the overworld was fun too, but with the low graphics, not as exciting of a payoff. Once I had beaten the plot, rescued all the clones, 100%ed all the levels, and found all the costumes, I was ready to access the community levels online. This is the other promise broken. They have a level editor, but no access to an online community. The 60 levels in the game were fun, but I was anticipating the near infinite levels gained when a game allows a community to create and share levels. If you are okay with these 2 big broken promises, go ahead and buy it. Like I said, it was still fun, just disappointing. As of this review, the game has been out for more than 3 years, so I wouldn't count on them ever fixing it.
