STORY

From the creators of the award-winning sci-fi game Out There...

In the near future, a paradigm-shifting scientific discovery looms over the world, promising radical new technologies. The world’s superpowers realize they could have the power to destroy the global financial system, wipe out entire countries or even gain access to immortality.

However, this discovery — called “The Sigma Theory” — can only be harnessed by a handful of scientists. You are placed at the head of your country’s Sigma division. Your objective is to ensure that it is your nation that reaps the benefits of Sigma Theory before anyone else.

To achieve this you will have powerful resources at your disposal: a cadre of the world’s most elite covert agents, advanced tactical drones and, of course, your own skills in diplomacy and subterfuge.

It’s a cold war out there, one in which mankind must face up to its future.

THE ULTIMATE ESPIONAGE SIMULATION

Turn-based espionage: Use your special agents to dominate the world. Seduction, blackmail, manipulation, industrial espionage… Every low blow is both permitted and encouraged.
Dynamic narrative: Develop and manage your relations with over 100 NPCs: lobbies, armed groups, politicians… Alliance, deception or assassination, you choose.
Field operations: Direct the kidnapping of your targets during gripping pursuits through the world’s greatest cities. Discretion or direct confrontation, your agent’s life is in your hands.

Recruitment
First, recruit a team of four special agents from 50 unique unlockable characters to support your missions. Each comes with their own story, motivations and traits that define their behavior during missions.
Access the investigator, soldier, hacker, seducer and other archetypes to complete your Sigma division and execute your strategy.

Espionage
When your team is ready, assign them missions around the world to gather scientists, discover compromising documents on local politicians, and more.
Exploit your agents’ abilities to seduce, manipulate and bribe your targets over to your side or have them neutralized.

Counter-espionage
Other nations will also use their agents to infiltrate your country and seize your scientists. Track, capture and interrogate them to gain information on your enemies, then exchange them for ransom when they are no longer useful.

Exfiltration
Order your agents to exfiltrate scientists recruited to your cause during gripping turn-based exfiltration phases through the world’s greatest capitals. Choose the position your drones wisely to support these delicate missions.

Diplomacy
In Sigma Theory, diplomacy is the key to achieving your goals. Meet your foreign counterparts and further your objectives using flattery, threats or blackmail. You can also recover your captured agents, advance your research, and much more. Develop your relations with powerful lobbies and armed and influential groups to obtain their favor. But be careful, they may turn on you.

Tech Tree
Sigma Theory is the cause of this cold war. Rally scientists from around the world to your cause to discover new technologies to gain the edge and change the world. Mind control, destabilization of the world economy, robot soldiers, immortality… Will you keep these discoveries for yourself or share them with the world?

There's potential here, but..

I really want to like this game. It's a fascinating concept and fleshed out very well. There's too many issues at present to give it a favorable rating. - Very random, and when it randoms against you the penalties are always severe. - Nothing that claims to be beneficial ever seems to be compared to how punishing are when things go wrong. - Not sure the stats have any real effect on events. - The constant pop-up messages are annoying, more annoying when you get multiple at the same time. - Once you get behind you stay behind. Catching up is nearly impossible. You're better off restarting from scratch. Hopefully some of this will be addressed before it leaves development.

Great otential, needs polish

The theme of singularity-arms-race is very compelling, the style and the art is nice, the gameplay is generally fun, replayability if surprisingly good. It's Cyberpunk meets XCOM meets James Bond, and you play M. Really cool. There are some issues, though, currently, at least, which make the game somewhat frustrating. UI is often glitchy, Randomness feels weird and has a really powerful effect on the game, NPC messages are intrusive, slow and cannot be dismissed. Overall, keep my fingers crossed for this game, because right now, it's perhaps a bit too frustrating, but it has great potential.

Unity Analytics, Facebook module Beware

I don't blame devs for this as they probably don't know, but it should be known, unity as an engine now compiles this into games.

Okay game but repetitive and punishing

The premise of the game is that you are head of a government project trying to be the first to discover new technologies. This might seem like a boring premise but it is full of diplomacy, espionage, counter-espionage, and more. That being said, the game itself and the story that evolves with in it is a bit flat at times. There isn't a whole lot of "story." The short couple sentences above is pretty much it. Events, especially during exfiltrations, are basically completely random. Your agents have "stats" but it doesn't seem like they matter at all. When you fail, the game really punishes you for it... that can be okay but the randomness seems to make you fail A LOT. Also it seems pretty easy to get behind, and once you do there doesn't seem to be any way to catch back up. Essentially the game devolves in send person to place, do thing, and then try to get out and hope the roll of the dice doesn't kill you in the process. Rinse and repeat. All in all, it is a okay to good game with some great visuals and backstory but replay-ability is really only there in unlocking new characters to try and rinse and repeat with.

Attribute Scores Currently Irrelevant

I have this game on Steam and the most glaring issue with this game is the fact that despite listing the attribute scores for each Agent, they ultimately don't matter, since every mission you send them on is ultimately decided by a coin toss rather than actually taking STR or INT into account. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the extraction missions when every decision you make can easily get your Agent killed or imprisoned. In one playthrough, I tried playing to my Agent's strengths and Perks only to fail decision after decision, ultimately resulting in maximum alert and eventual capture. Hackers are also a complete joke. Because of the aforementioned irrelevance of their INT score, Hackers can easily fail mission after mission, even against countries with the weakest network security. On top of that, the AI controlling the enemy nations completely blitzes Sigma research, often sniping your scientists rather quickly while you're still trying to meet with the scientist in the first place (again, decided by coin flip whether the mission will succeed or not). In it's current state (Build 18.0.1), the game is fairly infuriating to play. I'd wait until attribute scores seem like they're important before buying. The game is okay, but some mechanics clearly need more work.
