With Unity and Privacy Issues

Although the game has some refreshing ideas, the developers don't value your privacy and data protection regulation at all. This game comes with Unity user tracking and does not present an opt-out option. The user is not even informed of this "spying". This is illegal, it must be opt-in if sold in the European Union. It is time that GOG realizes who pays their salary, stops censorship on their platform, geo-blocking on products and instead enforce general data protection regulation on products.

risks taken to reinvent the genre

This game is a brawler like "streets of rage" and "fight n rage" one of the best brawlers ever made in my opinion. But this one is different and I like it: Instead of using face buttons to for attacks, you have to use the the right control stick. Sounds awful right? First I was turned off by this, and I switched to classic controls. But there is a realy cool idea behind this. Because you can attack directional: up, diagonal up/down and forward. And this is not just to be different it's used in the fights, like some enemies can armor different body parts with spells so you have to aim for their head or feet or chest, depending where they are unarmored. But that's not all. You got many moves combos and non lethal that can do more than just hit enemies. You can block, counter and reflect, air combos, throw enemies into the air, get power ups. And each character feels different! What else about the game? Well so far I defeated the first boss, the character design is awesome. Reminds me a bit of turtels and of the one or the other 90s hentai anime. +the fan service awesome +the gore is awesome (the last hit slices the enemy) +some of the small talk is fun Enemy variety is okay so far. There are many different demons, but all demons so far are humanoid and from the same family tree. It's not bad, but not outstanding either. So as a final word, a must have for any brawler fan. The controls, attacking with the analoge stick can get exausting and is unusual but I highly recommend to stick with it and get better. I got better too. Took me a while and in the beginning it's frustrating, just memorize your mistake and how to do it right. Use all the buttons evades, counters and combos and you will have a lot of fun! I love it! Thanks for the fan service!! Awesome game!!

Fun little game

This is a fine game if you enjoy side scrolling beat em ups. Can also confirm the game is completely playable as a solo player.

Ruined by missing online coop for GOG!!!

The Steam store page for Shing! lists a main feature as being: "Play solo or with friends: 4 player local and online co-op." Contrast this with the GOG store page, which instead says: "Play solo or with friends: 4 player local co-op." Notice how they completely removed the "online co-op" feature from the GOG version. They didn't bother to implement GOG to Steam Crossplay, and they also didn't bother to give the game Galaxy-only multiplayer either. Instead, they hoped nobody would notice the missing feature. But I noticed, and now you have too. The consequence of this decision to remove a major feature from the GOG version is that the experience of playing this game singleplayer is horrible, because it is not designed for singleplayer. Let me give you an example of exactly what I mean: at the second level, you have to fight a gimmick boss. The gimmick boss fight goes like this: The boss is a giant ogre monster who charges at you and hits you with melee, and who also casts an AOE spell to hit you from great range. At the same time, infinitely-respawning imps are constantly attacking you. There is no possible way to damage this boss unless you first engage in the gimmick mechanics that the game forces you into: you need to hold the block button and then walk around to cause your sword to aim the light into the ogre's face, to make him vulnerable to your attacks briefly. But the mechanics for doing this are horribly imprecise and clunky, meaning you will be getting owned through no fault of your own. While you are busy with this gimmick mechanic, it is impossible for you to dodge the attacks of the imps, or the boss, or to slay any of the imps. This gimmick boss was clearly designed to be fought by multiple players at once: one to aim the light, as another slays the imps, as another distracts the boss, etc. But since GOG has no online co-op, the game forces you to lose because you cannot possibly do all those things at once, as just one player.

Fun and Fast

Sense of humor not for all ;) But the game is awesome (2 different control schemes!), and quite fast. I have a blast ;)
