Rain World: The Watcher is a DLC expansion of Rain World. Journey beyond to something, somewhere only ever glimpsed. When the world beneath your feet cracks and crumbles, will you hold on to all you once knew? Or dive into the unknown?

The wilds that await will be unlike all that's come before.

Unknown creatures stalk and climb and dive and hunt. New breeds rip and pluck and burrow and hide. Predator and prey redefined.
And through the middle of it all, a lonely lost slugcat trying their best to outlast the ravages of a warped world.

Mixed on launch, patches improved

This DLC is very different from Downpour so if you've played that you should come into this one with a completely different mindset. The devs are evidently trying out a lot of new game mechanics, most of which had good intentions even if the execution wasn't initially the best. I tried to make this review as spoiler-free as possible. Some of the new mechanics: - Watcher takes place in an entirely new world with 20+ regions, and you'll have a new way to travel between areas. Almost all the regions are fun to explore and have great visuals, but may feel a bit disconnected. It's easy to get lost and have to backtrack, and may be a little convoluted to check your progress. - A couple of issues that everyone's reporting are foreground objects (if you played vanilla you'll be familiar with this issue). There are also a couple of maps that were so dark that I decided to turn up the contrast on my monitor. - There are quite a few new creatures; some are really fun, one or two are awful... you'll know when you encounter them. Hopefully the patch mediates most of these issues. - Instead of ascending or carrying something, your goal is to find a recurring character which will move throughout the world. It's admittedly not very fun when you have little indication as to where the character is and have to backtrack A LOT (like a lot, a lot), but this issue is only really serious in midgame and when you're getting the second ending (yes, there are multiple endings!) - There are a few issues with the travel points, with some of them being buggy or bringing weird enemy spawns. The good thing is many of the issues are being worked on even now, so hopefully they'll be resolved in future patches. I've done each campaign in downpour once, and my first playthrough took about 20 hours (for the first ending).
