Generic, bad, abandoned Terraria clone.

Not a chance. Viral and invasive marketing, released laughably early, hyped to the moon, and never delivering on almost any of its promises, Pixel Piracy is widely hated for good reason as an example of one of the most deceptive and purely garbage Early Access releases on Steam to date. Filled with glaring design problems and crippling bugs, even fans of Terraria (of which this author is one) will be hard pressed to find any enjoyment here past the first hour or two, after which you will realize that this is a sandbox game without much sand in it. It's strictly, STRICTLY a Terraria cash-in without imagination and chock full of all the worst Early Access headaches. Abandoned by the developers and with no future, Pixel Piracy is the antithesis of a Good Old Game and I am ashamed that it appeared here.

Unfinished release

Bought it on steam, and was pretty disappointed as it wasn't much better than an alpha state game. It could be fun at times, but typically I encountered so many bugs and AI issues that I just quit and hoped the next patch would bring relief. Figure I'll give it another year and I'll check back, as this game never should have been released in the state it's currently in. Granted it was significantly worse when it initially released, but as a 'finished' product as far as video games go... they knew it wasn't ready by a longshot. At least the occasional patch still comes out, but I wouldn't be surprised if they give up soon. I for one will not buy anything from this group again.

Fun, but Unpolished

Pixel Piracy is a fun game where you get to do pirate things in a side-scrolling 2D world. You go up levels like an RPG and you command your mates like a strategy game. You can build your own ship or steal others, and have huge sea battles. Overall the game is fun and there is a lot to explore. That said the game is unpolished and needs some more work. The first sign of trouble was the fact that I couldn't remap the controls. That's a big no-no on the PC. I had to use a hotkey program to play the way I wanted. The next biggest issue is the fact that your guys, and even you, don't always go where you want them to. Your pirates have a mind of their own, and a lot of times that is fun and interesting to watch, but at other times you just want your guy to be at the spot you want doing what you want and it's not always easy. There are also some little bugs and glitches here and there. For example, my captain got stuck in a part of the ship he used to have easy access to after I remodeled it. I had to break my ship up so he could get out. Also my guys stopped performing their skills for no reason (my cleaning guy stopped cleaning). The game has a lot of charm, but it needs another layer of depth and some serious attention to the interface along with bug fixes.

Bad on Steam, Bad here

Bought this game on Steam when it was on sale, and it was bad then. The game barely instructs you how to play, much less how to actually accomplish anything. Controls aren't explained except to click on things to interact with them and even then that may or may not work.

NOT back from the dead

This game was recently revived on Steam after being abandoned for reasons you can find on there. However, don't be fooled into buying it here since the developer still ignores GOG like the plague much like they did before the big disappearing act. The last GOG update was before 2020 even, and you're all free to check GOG DB. I know this isn't a review but I don't care, people need to be made aware of this shady BS.
