Description
The parrot is back from the dead bringing countless new insults for your disposal, Sir! Remember that silly game that parted lovers, destroyed families and turned friends into enemies? Here’s its successor that does even more, certainly with more style and more variety. And I have proof! This time you can spread affront to everyone in the world that has Internet access or - if you’re not the most sociable - you can sit alone and play with yourself. Nudge nudge.

So don’t let the parrot die for nothing and tell that grumpy old lady that her husband donated organs for a strange woman lying in a pond and that her sister poses nude for some dog. Then meet a retired hipster who admires pictures of a grunting sow, and a fake Russian who borrowed a dead body to put his teacup and crumpets on. It’s also the only game that lets you learn what’s The Meaning of Life, and that’s scientifically proven!
  • Loner’s Insult Tournament Mode: Battle your way through numerous unique situations and verbally assault your CPU
  • Real-Life Friends Mode: Belliger your actual friends on a couch, ottoman, or whatever else you like to rest your fanny on
  • Imaginary-Friends Mode: Verbally take down strangers from all over the world online, and bring the witty pain across any device using the game's Cross-Platform Multiplayer
  • 5 Hilarious Playable Characters: Each with their own unique voices, quirky traits and hilarious “insult bits”
  • Legendary Potty Mouthed Unlockable Heroes: Lay down some verbal carnage and unlock renowned potty mouthed special guest fighters, including Shadow Warrior's Lo Wang, with more additions to follow soon.
  • 4 Conflict Scenarios: Lay down some verbal jujitsu across 4 different testy situations and dynamic environments
  • Contentious Battle System: Employ combos, criticals, continuations and other new mechanics to outwit your argumentative opponents!

Casual fun and well-pronounced foulness

I am developing a soft-spot for this kind of cheap indies. These games must get to you as fast as possible, and they have to tease you with just one good idea: which is exactly what big productions lack nowadays, IDEAS. This is not one of the brightest or even the newest, in fact this game builds upon one of the oldest of the book: "what about cleverly insulting your neighbor?" For as cheap as 2 bucks or less you can bring home one tiny game all made up around a handful of characters that seem to love hurting each others' pride and feelings through accurate insulting. It works like this: pick one between the elegant dandy Mr. Shufflebottom, the hipster wannabe, modernity-loathing Sir Knight plus some others and start arguing: the game puts you in a tight situation against another character and lets both of you settle it through verbal hate, also featuring internet MULTIPLAYER. Insulting takes place with an acceptable variety of lines of text, fully dubbed with nice accents: you square off against each of your enemies trying to build up the perfect, longest and yet most possibly logical composition of offending words and profanity towards your adversary, each of which will deplete his lifebar as inside a beat'em'up. Both take turns and will have to build the insults using rules and techniques well explained by a short and funny tutorial: components will vary from a bucket of subjects, objects, verbs and conjunctions common to the two characters and a couple of secret ones you keep in your own pocket. If you have a hard time combining, you can always sip a cup of tea to change your personal words or wait for the next turn while keeping an already built but unfinished insult, be careful, though: your opponent may do a rude combo, or hurt you in using your weak spot (each character has one) and make you forget it!! This is a solid, LITTLE game experience: it even has unlockable characters (see: LO WANG FROM SHADOW WARRIOR) but could use more stages and even phrases.

Could be a cool small card game

I did not buy this game to expect a deep and complex gameplay. As long as that is your mindset, you cannot do wrong buying it for it's low price. The words are very British but so is the overall design of the characters and it's gameplay so that is fine. You have to sip tea to get extra words and there are small Monty Python references. The gameplay is actually quite OK as there is an algorithm checking the complexity of the made sentences, you can create combo's by insulting sequentially on the same theme and the different characters all have their own weakness like for instance jokes made on their sense of style. This could very likely be a small card game so in a way it's a perfectly digital version of a cool party game

Boring and repetitive

Couple of sentences, not quite "offensive", couple of "enemies" and couple of "stages". That is all. I got it during a discount, extremely cheap. The only actual insult I feel is the fact that this is labeled a "game" when in fact it can be a free flash/html web-page prank for a popcorn/soda promotion campaign. On short, I have "played" flash games more complex than this.

Good idea, bad execution

The Insult Simulator, in essence, is a good game, but as is, just isn't very fun. The insults you're allowed to construct are more weird than insulting, and the way they're scored is quite a mystery. Oftentimes I'd just try to construct an insult as quickly as possible, rather than try to build a good, lengthy one. Also, the words you can use to construct those insults get repeated far too often. You'll find yourself talking about your opponent's relatives far too much, using the same insults almost every single time. I would have much preferred grabbing words and phrases at random, and trying to construct an insult out of them at the end, and being scored on just how many of the words I actually used, as well as how "strong" my insult was. Playing against the computer, you also have to wait for it to play its turn, which is quite annoying. And since the words you choose get put one after the other, you get to see your opponent's insult as it's being made, and you get to see it once again when it's ready, and your opponent uses it. You can skip that last part, but it requires quite a few clicks, which becomes tiring after a while. The game's visual design is also a problem. The design choice is quite interesting, but the different characters don't seem to offer much of a change from one another, and feel more like a re-skin of the same character. Also, the insult-battle locations are quite uninspired, and each time you enter a battle, you're forced to see the cause for it - such as a fight over a train compartment. You can skip it as well, but it requires quite a lot of clicks, and becomes tedious after a while. Also, Insult Simulator has the feel of a mobile game more than anything, with its simple interface and very limited animations. It seems designed to serve as a ten minute distraction, rather than a play-it-to-the-end kind of game. You can play online, but you get no feedback on your chances to find an opponent. This game requires a radical update or DLC

Lack of content makes a meh-OK game

A nice idea: a 1v1 insult competition, with each player taking turns to take words or phrases from a common pool. Combines a certain amount of dirty-minded creativity with technical grammar sniping (i.e. taking words so that your opponent can't finish his sentence). This game is fun for a while and probably great with some beers, but falls short of its promise due to a small dictionary; you'll see the same words coming up again and again, with little variation. Still, it's fun for a while and is a budget price, so I don't feel ripped off. Mods could make this game really great, but I've not found any.
