A good old adventure story

Lost Horizon is an adventure game in the purest sense: globetrotting, puzzle-solving, running away from bad guys etc. It is, really, the closest thing to the Indiana Jones movies that you will get in the adventure gaming world. And I say this in a good way, the game is still original enough to stand on its own merits, but it's impossible not to get that "classic" Spielberg-esque adventure feeling while playing Lost Horizon. Which is great. Good characters, good voice acting, gripping story with a few very well done sections. Classic game mechanics, there are no silly puzzles or strange design decisions, it plays like a smooth classic adventure. The artwork is excellent, there is plenty of attention to detail, so the world feels immersive enough to drag you in, as you were playing through a past reality that is somewhat plausible, and not something cartoonish. Also a shout out to the game;s music - there is one jazzy track (recorded specially for Lost Horizon, I believe), that I think manages to encapsulate the whole tone of the game - you'll know which one when you hear it. So lots of positive aspects to Lost Horizon, it shows that it was done by people who like a good old adventure story, there is no out-of-place aspect to this game, at least none that I can think of. It is not perfect, it does not push any boundaries, but it is a visually beautiful game, that is also smart and entertaining. And that is a rare combination.

Clean and Simple Fun

If this were a movie it would barely be PG, it's very light hearted and easy going in a Disney type of way. There is no rush and you will not die, take your time, puzzles are not hard and the graphics feel hand drawn by a talented artist leaning more towards realism and not cartoonist in any way. I used this game as a way to relax, to take a break from harder games and/or life. If you like point and click adventure games you will enjoy this little gem. The GoG version does not come with a manual and its so easy to play it confused me a little at the beginning so I'll list some helpful playing tips here so you can get started right away. (Mouse and Keyboard Space-bar are all that is needed to play) 1.) Pressing the space bar or the magnifying icon at bottom right shows all the active spots and exits in the screen. (right/left mouse buttons do different actions on these spots) 2.) When the characters' icons are seen on top of the screen; switching characters is enabled. 3.) Double click makes the character run and hastens going to the next screen. 4.) Right click skips dialogue. (very useful to know) 5.) Some items need to be combined or broken apart before you can use them. You can search and find the manual on-line but it's not really needed unless you want to read the included diary to get the full back story and... that's not really needed either.

Amazing game

Loved it! As good as the classics, with nice action scenes and brain teasers that actually work! Monkey Island-worthy!

I underestimated it

For a long time I had this game on my next-to-play list, didn't care much about it. But then - after I started playing - I was convinced alsmost immediatly. Sure, at the beginning it is a bit annoying that you can't really do much for a while, but after that the game shows it's good storywriting, the not all too difficult puzzles, the great atmosphere which reminds a lot of the old Indiana Jones games, the game certainly looks and feels inspired by them. I had a great time playing it.

Stop at 1! For reals

This started a little slow and then grew on me. Ended up being a very cool story, and a compelling game that sucked me in until the very end. Charming and not nearly as cringy as I expected from the intro/cover art. Definitely worth a play through. Avoid part 2 like the plague though. The graphics improved but every other aspect fell through the floor, died and kicked up a stink.
