Jupiter Hell is a no bullshit roguelike.
Let me preface with there's a profanity setting you can set to high, which is awesome. I'm not a huge fan of swords and magic and it's one of the reasons I'm incapable of playing many roguelikes, so immediately this game stood out—it's the successor of Doom roguelike, after all. If you're the type of person that's wanted a roguelike with guns this is that roguelike. It's very easy to grasp, feels polished, and runs well. You will spend your time tactically shooting demons, finding new weapons (rare, unique coming soon, etc), armor, and blasting everything you come across and leveling up. There's mods for weapons you can find, and those will be fleshed out as development continues. Later levels increasingly raise the challenge on Medium. I've not yet tried hard, so I don't know how challenging it is, but from what I've read it can get brutal. Brutal is the whole point of roguelikes, anyway. There's challenge modes and you unlock more the more you beat. A custom game mode option is present but not implemented yet. The price is steep, but I think there's only one or two people developing it and they've been going strong for 7 years with no other job, so the price is understandable. And the game is certainly worthy of your money if you're into these types of games or would like to get into them. This is a more refined and polished Doom Roguelike so if you want an idea of what the game is like you can download DRL for free. The developer has said that he/they will be working on the game for years to come so just think of your purchase as a good investment with an already good product. Everything feels good. The sound is addicting, looting is addicting, shooting is addicting. It's all very punchy. Already various improvements added since I played the limited demo a month ago. Vulkan was also added. Jupiter Hell is a no bullshit roguelike that claims to be roguelike that actually is roguelike not roguelite. If you're into that you will have a good time.
