Description
Incredipede is a puzzle game that celebrates the vast diversity of life in the world. Follow the adventures of Quozzle, a lone Incredipede on a quest to rescue her sisters. She has a unique ability to grow new arms and legs wherever she needs them, transforming into a snake, a spider, a horse, a monkey - anything you can imagine. You can give her antlers or a tail, use nature as a blueprint or strike out in weird new directions. Control Quozzle as she learns to swing through the trees, climb sheer cliffs, dance over rivers of lava, and even soar through the air on thermal winds.

Incredipede features 60 levels in three beautifully crafted worlds. The first world introduces placing muscles and controlling Quozzle using the keyboard. Futher worlds give you full control over Quozzle's limbs, as you stretch her into new shapes to better navigate her surroundings. Long arms can reach up high to grab ledges, while many feet make for faster crossing over dangerous terrain. It doesn't end there. Use the level editor to create your own puzzles, or challenge others to control your Quozzle designs to the finish line. Browse user-made levels and creatures, and experience the vast diversity of human creativity.

  • Incredipede features the hauntingly beautiful woodblock art style of artist Thomas Shahan.
  • A robust level editor for you to make your own levels and share them with your friends.
  • Stretch your Incredipede into strange and fantastic configurations!

I really wanted to love this title..

The art is beautiful, as is the story of the team that made this game. Quite honestly, it's almost enough. I played through this game extensively, enjoying the music, visual style and for a large part, the game play. However, it becomes obvious after a while that true strategy in solving these puzzles is a little tougher to come by. It may be me, but I never felt like I was growing with the complexity of the game. When I solved puzzles it often felt like luck rather than skill. Despite this there is a fantastic online system in which you can view other people's solutions. The community for Incredipede is very connected and active, and this is a nice thing. I really like this game, but I felt it was playing me more than I was playing it.

This game looked amazing.

I really wanted to enjoy this game. It looked amazing with awesome stylistic graphics and it presented itself as a quirky physics puzzle game. However, when I played it, a lot of the " puzzle solving" felt like luck; as the physics felt inconsistent and frankly broken. Then, to top it off, the game itself was incredibly short. I sent an e-mail to the developers asking if there were any plans to remedy the awkward controls and physics and/or to add content. However, I ended up getting an incredibly flippant response. So yeah, I don't recommend this game at all. Especially because if you have a bug or any general problem to report with it, which you probably will find, you'll be met with rude responses by the developers. If you want a cool physics puzzle game, try the Incredible Machines Series . . . much better in my opinion.

A puzzle game with a unique personality

I always had a fascination for Latin America: from the Andes to the Amazon Jungle, there are so many exotic regions to explore that it awakens the adventurer in me, not to mention the powerful attraction that pre-Columbian cultures exert on me. Incredipede scratches an itch, then, as its art (in both visual and audio departments) is heavily inspired by the developers' stay in Central America. There's more: indirectly, it also touches upon the history of this region of the world, and while the story is (very) secondary in the context of playing this game, it nonetheless provides a line of thought that goes much deeper than you're likely to realise at first. (For more on the background of this title's development, check out "Born Unequal: The Story of Incredipede", an article featured on the gaming website Polygon.) Incredipede is a puzzle game that puts you in the limbs (yes) of Quozzle: she's an "incredipede", which basically stands for all life as it can change shape to better adapt to the numerous challenges of the environment, and the game's mechanics are a way to explore the different forms that life takes. In effect, there's a normal mode and a hard mode: in the former, Quozzle's design in each level is provided for you, and in the latter you have to design her yourself. New limbs are created by dragging outward from the central eye, and muscles are dropped in by tapping the two attachment points. It's not necessarily intuitive, and both designing a new creature and moving throughout the levels will take some getting used to, but that just increases the satisfaction you earn from beating a puzzle. There's also a level editor, and tons of content made by the community. The textures used in this title are smooth and heavily lined, giving the appearance of a living woodblock print or an oil painting. The art direction is very good and coupled with the music's exotic (if repetitive) tunes, the game's original character is enhanced. 3.5/5 stars - worth a try.

Shall I press left or right?

That's all you do: left or right, and even then it's just trial and error and pure luck. I mean the game's original that's for sure, but it's also boring and frustrating.

Fun game, but Linux users beware

This game really gets you thinking. It things don't just turn where you expect them to, you need leverage, which is sometimes missing from other physics games. It's just...it's free on Linux if you go to the website. Lots of times GoG is a little more expensive, or a little bit cheaper, and it all balances out in the end. I LIKE supporting GoG. But charging for a free thing is a bit egregious. http://www.incredipede.com/linux.html
