The game that defined "grand strategy"
One of those games that make Paradox the referential studio on "grand strategy", as they call it themselves. Totally worth it. I've being playing this game since almost its release without even uninstalling it a single time. I buy a new PC last year and the first game I re-installed was this. For me, the 2D graphics make the game more enjoyable and HOI3 and other new Paradox games, since it makes the game smooth and simple to play, you concentrate on the fun part, crushing another countries or building a great coalition of nations to stop the Axis and liberate the world. If you don't know the game, you assume the role of literally ANY country in Earth on the WW2. You want to be part of the Axis with Argentina and conquer all south america? You can. You want to defend China from the Japanese invasion and take the fight to their islands? You can. You want to go to Berlin with the soviets, and why stop there, continue and take all Europe for the socialism? What are you waiting for? You can. You manage all aspects of your country, from production of units to technological progress, from diplomacy (in this game the alliances MEAN SOMETHING, they are not easily broken) to strategic and logistical deploy, from civil unrest and domestic policies to battles and conquests. For me is the more "round" strategy game out there, you can control all, you can do anything you want, no missions, no geographical or time limitation, only some historical events that really add flavor to the mix and present you some decisions to make that really have consequences and can literally change the world: You will use the Danzig pretext and invade Poland with Germany on September of 1939? Or will you let it go and focus on another objective? Will you as USA support the Soviet Union with money and supplies in order to weaken Germany? Or will it be dangerous for a post-Axis world? Hundreds of decisions for you to make as events of the game, plus any other decision you want to make yourself.
Is this helpful to you?
