The definitive edition of Garou: MotW
Thanks to Code Mystics' fixing the previous port, we can finally enjoy this swan song to FatalFury series in all its glory in this must-have version. You can expect amazing design, detailed characters/backgrounds, memorable tunes and fluid animation from SNK's halcyon days . Rollback netcode has been added too with various tweaks, fixes, quality of life features and bonuses, making this CM version vastly superior to the previous DotEmu version in every aspect. Speaking of the devil, consider the reviews from prior to 2020 as outdated in regards to the quality and performance of port. They are all about the somewhat average and now deprecated DotEmu Version gog-1 (which was preserved as optional download for those who are curious to see the difference between editions, or getting those old achievements).

Pretty Solid 2D Fighting Experience
4/5 for minor gripes. The GOG release of Garou: Mark of the Wolves is pretty much in line with its Steam release. The main menu, 1990s CRT look, play mechanics, hardware requirements, and even occasionally choppy framerate mirror the Steam release. Of course, this is far more tolerable thanks to the removal of DRM. My gripes concerning Garou MOTW are minor. There's the framerate, which can jitter a bit. The Linux and Mac installers probably don't support two controller inputs - which is a gripe regarding the Humble Store (also DRM-free) release. However, with Windows being the go-to operating system for PC gaming, I've learned to live with such issues. Again, my gripes with GMOTW are minor. BOTTOM LINE: $6 (USD) is a very small price to pay for one of the greatest 2D fighting games ever made.

Best Version
The reviews from 2019 and older are for a worse port of the game by dotEmu. It has been redone by Code Mystics and offers a way better experience now. One of the greatest and most beautiful fighting games of all times.
