Cat Quest

This is based on about 4 hours of play time, so there may be some things I haven't yet seen. I'll start with the two flaws, neither of which are catastropic. First, there is a LOT of wanderring back-and-forth. At first that's OK as the (relatively) safe area starts out small. As you level up, though, it gets bigger and the back-and-forth gets a little old. A fast-travel option would be nice, though I may not have seen it yet. Second, buying crates at the blacksmith to level up gear is totally random (at least at the lower level). That makes it frustrating when there's one specific piece you want to level and have to keep spending money hoping you'll get a bonus for that piece. Beyond that, it's a fun little game. The combat is challenging but by no means impossible. As you level up, the easier critters can be taken out with one shot, but the ones closer to your level require more thought, planning and timing. The spells are pretty easy to use, and you have the choice of which ones and when to spend gold to level up. Leveling doesn't take all that long, and the plethora of side quests makes that go even faster. The puns are plentiful and at least bring some grins, some laughs, and occasional groans. The characters are generally amusing and the story is engaging enough to keep me wanting to know what happens next. It's also easy to pick up and play for just a little bit or for longer sessions. Overall, it's a solid game and well worth the price.

Looking for a casual hack and slash? Well look no father. This game is a solid h&s. Its got new game plus and some additional modifiers to keep the game fresh. You cannot go wrong with this game if you find it on sale. 1 full clear + a newgame plus speed run has me clocked in at just under 10hours. Well worth the money I paid.

Got bored pretty quickly. The game literally leads you by the hand. Why I'm note disappointed? It was clear from the beginning what this game offers so you know what you are getting. Why I give it only 5/10? It's pretty good game on its own, but we have a large quantities of good game to choose from, not every game can be 10/10. I do not regret buying it. Pretty good cozy game and pretty good game for someone who never played games before. If you are either new to video games or like cozy game - this game is for you, buy it for the full price. Otherwise, 70% discount was enough to justify it for me.

The game is very approachable and is just all around fabulous. Fun action combat that rewards positioning while still being very accessible. It's further elevated by the game's superb presentation, with a very clean art style that combines a beautiful children's book art style with readability. The real star of the show is the writing, which is just marvelous and witty. My only complaint with it is that the gear progression could use some tune-ups. Gold acquisition / chest frequency is too low for the amount of content in the game. Some grinding is ok, but you'll be at it for a long time if you care about maxing out any piece of gear. That said, you don't need to max gear to be able to complete the game (spells are much more important), but it does matter more if you care about doing every single side-quest. I'm very much looking forward to getting Cat Quest II and would recommend Cat Quest to anyone. What it does well, it does really well.
