All Those Moments Won't Be Lost In Time.
I wish it were raining because there are tears in my eyes! A day I wondered may NEVER come; rumors of a lost master copy had fueled my fears. The emotional experience of coming to terms with the fact I may never get my classic Blade Runner "modernized" became my own personal Voight Kampff test. Today, though, the day has come, and boy is it a good day! So on to the game, the gameplay 75% resembles a classic Adventure game, think of Westwood's attempt as their idea of a best of between the Sierra and Lucasarts systems that would fit this game. It isn't quite as punishing as Sierra, nor as forgiving as Lucasarts, it is possible to die. It was quite ambitious for it's day, there are branching paths and endings and multiple playthroughs do genuinely yield differnet plot events. Major plot points will adapt to the player, its a pixelized/Voxelized version of Quantic Dream style games (Heavy Rain, Detroit: Become Human). The plot takes place during the movie, but follows a different Blade Runner named Ray McCoy. You will visit movie locations that are painstakingly and amazingly recreated as well as hear about Deckard's exploits, though you do not cross direct paths with movie events, this is a new adventure. Nothing is perfect, so what are the flaws here? Well, Blade Runner isn't really a looker these days, the backgrounds always looked good and still hold up, but the main char. graphics are Voxels and they look ROUGH up close, but, they produce a 2D/3D image that allows good animations and size scaling for the performance (90s systems didnt all have GPUs). Also, the plot and gameplay suffer from some uneven pacing, and confusing interface choices. (I recommend changing the dialogue option in the menu to the player choice option.) The game was also incredibly buggy, especially on modern systems, a flaw I hope (and am sure) this version will correct. Must Buy! This isn't just a great Blade Runner game, it's a classic 90s adventure game!
