Arts nice. It's short... less than 20min. Thin on tutorial mechanics. Mostly it tries to set the story setting. I think it would've been better if the prologue was longer because it's set the story better. More explanation for how game mechanics (e.g. stealth, stamina) work would've been nice too.
Seems ok. Hard to know if it'll be good or not as a game with how little is presented in the prologue.
Def worth trying out for free. It works... there's just very little meat given.
Okay you bastards, you got me interested here.
The game is great art-wise but you have a long road ahead of you if you want to make it work.
Gameplay is interesting, even somewhat exotic but it requires more nuances to it.
Melee attack doesn't have sound yet, quick safe/load is critically required, the visuals are in dire need of antialiasing, but I think this game has future.
I'm curious regarding the full game. As stated by others, the game mechanics were poorly explained and in some cases not explained at all in this prologue to the full game.
I somewhat hope the character presented here appears in the full game. The description clearly states the main game is from a hunter's perspective while this is from a commoner's perspective, but this prologue is just setting up what looks like a story with him when it ends. Would be nice to see what happens to him after this in the main game.
I can't get past the first step of the tutorial. A white outline of possible move places appears, but whichever I click on, the character moves one space then just stays on the spot in a running animation. Nothing else happens. He never reaches the targeted space. Unless I have just missed something obvious. I tried quitting out, reloading, trying again (different target) - same thing.
TL;DR: A good intro to the story/world, but I want to see more in the way of gameplay. This just feels like a tutorial.
Onto the "review"., This prologue got my interest. It sets the scene really well, and did a decent job at teaching the mechanics. Although, I didn't get the "Diversity of approaches". You quickly learn that combat is not the best option. Stealth is your best friend, finding the right time to attack, but avoiding it altogether is better. Thankfully, the stealth system is pretty clear, and visual indicators of what can see you, and where you can hide. What I'm not a huge fan of is how line of sight works. If I loose sight of someone, they just disapear, and it can feel like enemies I should have seen just apear out of nowhere. My first attempt on the last level, I literally walked right into a Screecher, I managed to quickly kill it, but it alerted it's allies. Thankfully, bushes were nearby so I could hide after the kill. Speaking of the actual kill, early on scavenging is mentioned, as is selling items. None of this seems implemented, if it's even planned at all. Likewise, this system would seem to fit well with a group (like the hunters), but that's not in the game/demo, either.
