Still bugged and just poorly designed.
If you want a better Sheltered experience then stick with with the first game. Sheltered 2 still has game breaking bugs like characters getting stuck in place forever, and really annoying bugs like trading for items that just vanish because you didn't have enough inventory space and the game won't tell you that you don't. In addition to these bugs a lot of the game is poorly designed and very frustrating, especially the combat. Combat is horrible and seemingly unavoidable without save-scumming, there are supposed to be items that lower you chances of combat encounters but I'm pretty sure these don't actually do anything because they are likely bugged as well. Once combat starts though you'll see the true horror of it because you can't quit out of it, at all, you have to see the combat throe to the end even if you already know that its completely pointless because you 100% know you'll lose. But it gets worse, combat is very slow, the more common combat moves have very slow and long animations that can't be skipped. The cherry on top is of course that the combat menu's are oddly designed where you have to go into a separate menu to select which body part to target with your attack but using this menu closes the other combat menu where you select your attacks to use, which you have to do first to check which attacks and skills the character has available. In short, combat is a annoying horror show of poor design. Then there is the crafting and base building, it mostly keeps the same design from the old game, this would work except for a single simple change that ruins everything. Now items have a quality level, there are three quality levels, equipment and base structures and upgrades of a higher tier now require component of a higher quality level or you can't make them. Sounds simple but once you understand that the crafting and inventory system this game uses work against this then you'll realize just how annoying everything gets.
