Fist Puncher

Great beat-em'-up, but even better with a buddy. I took off one star because I thought the game could have used more moves and a greater inducement to use the large array of other characters. You have to level them up individually to get strong, so it doesn't really behoove you to deviate from your original choice. Cool retro graphics and gameplay though, and great price. Worth a buy for sure.

This is a great beat 'em up. Sound effects are briljant, so is the soundtrack. The basic fighting mechanic is just the same like in the good old days. Don't know what more you can expect from a game in this genre, so if you like the genre, buy it and relvie the Double Dragon days. Perks and cards and object collection are little extras that don't interest me,b ut may give extra motivation for others. The only gripe I have with the game are the unskippable cutscenes from the beginning, the appalling voice acting and the fact it takes you around two minutes in order to be able to quit the game to desktop.

Well, even though the rating is not the best I ordered the game. Why? Because the last good 2D-Bmup I played on the PC was Little Fighter 2 (perfect for modding, strongly recommended) and it was damn funny. The only thing I really criticize here is the lack of gamepad-support, you need an emulator for everything besides the Xbox360 pad. Other than that it's a funny game with some nice little features like the map-system or the leveling. It would have been better with normal graphics, no real need for retro in this one. (just swimming with the tide I guess) Prepare to struggle a little with the controls though, it took me a few minutes to get into it. The standard layout works for me. And yes, it IS playable with a keyboard, I even play it with my laptop-keyboard. Nevertheless a good keyboard or nice gamepad is of course recommended. Definitely worth the discounted 1.79$ I payed for it.

This game is a beat em up, and a amazing homage to the old school style at that. Yes, it likes the 360 controller for PC, or the Logitech. It has a ton of unlock able characters each of which has their own attacks and special categories, a RPG level up system, and frankly I'm laughing out loud every couple minutes from some reference or amusement back to nostalgia. If you played streets of rage or any of the other old school beat em ups and you've got a controller, grab this, and maybe rope your friends into it so you can play with them! But seriously, I can't recommend this game enough - very good value for what they're asking, and the mechanics are solid, innovative, and full of hilarity. I don't understand why everyone is hating on it.
