A Light in the Dark

Its just an awesome VN i don't really have to say much more about. First walk though took me ~5 hours after that i invested ~7 additional hours to find all routes. Liked the story, characters, soundtrack, atmosphere and art style. Finding a way to squeeze information out of the characters and surrounding while having limited turns to do so makes some difficult decisions. I ran the game on Linux via wine without issues besides windowed not working and a pretty straightforward and easy working setup process.

It's not a bad VN overall. The story was short. There are a few endings you can aim for, it involves responding and acting in different ways. The artwork is really nice, characters and sceneries are well drawn. The characters themselves weren't great, they felt somewhat flat, I found them and their dialogue repetitive at times with no real progression in terms of personality. Still I'd recommend trying it out on sale.

After finish the game I can just think it's one of those games that you are no expecting anything about but you end up impressed. I am not going to spoil the game but it's those games that once you finish them make you say "wow" and give you some food for thought. If you like visual novels I think it's an enjoyable read, without the generic visual novel tropes, for non visual novel readers but interested in the medium I believe this game it's a great entry. And for the non visual novels enthusiast, give it a try, the medium is great, it's like reading an interaction book, the music makes visual novels very enjoyable, and even for a non book/comics/manga reader like myself, nothing beats playing some visual novels after a long day of work.

Absolutely beautiul. It touches some morally questionable aspects of poverty and desperation and the dialogue between characters is beautifully crafted. I found the endings a bit harsh, I wished for my character to get more involved and do something meaningful, until I found out about the "secret ending" which is ok, but still I hoped to see a faster choice from him and a bit more involvement, because at some points in the story it really feels like he's one choice away from making a real difference. It seems that I really wish for a genuinely happy ending, other than a secret one which forces you to watch the most depressing ending before. I do recommend you to play this game and also I do recommend you to try to get to know the characters before thinking to find your way out asap.
