I notice that inside the SoD directory there is three folders: M1, M2 and M2, presumably each mission from the game. Is it necessary to setup ECWolf individually for each mission?
I'm a bit rusty on ECWolf. But when I last used it, it didn't matter where you put it.
As long as you've played the original games at least once, ECWolf will find the files on your HDD and will give you a little neat box where you can chose what Wolf3D game you want to play.

ECWolf finds the Steam install for Wolf3D and Spear automatically, but it doesn't have the code to find the GOG install yet since, well, it has just been released.

You can always copy the data files (audiohed.sod, audiot.sod, gamemaps.sod, maphead.sod, vgadict.sod, vgagraph.sod, vgahead.sod, vswap.sod for Spear of Destiny; gamemaps.sd2, maphead.sd2, and vswap.sd2 for Return to Danger; gamemaps.sd3, maphead.sd3, and vswap.sd3 for the Ultimate Challenge) in your ECWolf directory.

The audio* and vga* files are identical between Spear of Destiny and its mission packs, so you don't have to bother with finding .sd2 and .sd3 versions of them.

If the gamemaps, maphead, and vswap files in the M2 and M3 folders have the .sod extensions, change them to .sd2 and .sd3 for ECWolf to work.

I am friends with the dev of ECWolf Blzut3 I will inform him about GOG putting up Wolf3d and SoD.

You dont have to do any renaming at all, just plug the ECWolf files right into the directory and you are set. :)
I made a ECWolf set up thread.

Built-in support is coming eventually:

Next version of ECWolf should autodetect the GOG dirs
https://bitbucket.org/Blzut3/ecwolf/commits/acbfa31e55ddc935df313c6956900f40a45f8087
Is there a way to tell ECWolf to slow down the game? By default it makes the game too fast. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit.

Update:
I think I figured out the issue. It looks like "Always Run" was already enabled.

Is it possible to play Wolf 3D and SoD on the Mac using ECWolf Mac?

It is possible to play the DOS versions of Wold3d and SoD on the Mac using ECWolf, but still not possible to play the Mac version of Wold3D using ECWolf. The next version should support the Mac versions.

So, yes, you can play the version sold on GOG (DOS version) on Mac using ECWolf.

I hope that is not too confusing.

Thank you for the reply. I've downloaded both the .exe from GOG and ECWolf Mac but I just can't seem to get it working. Do you think you can show me how it's done?

I don't have a Mac, but I can try:

You have to extract the exe file somehow. You could use or [url=https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/macosx/download.html]wine.

I use innoextract on my Linux system, but I've just seen that there are no precompiled binaries for Mac.

Do you know how to use homebrew or compile code yourself? If not, it is probably easier to use Wine. Install Wine, use it to install the exe file, find the necessary files (everything with the extension wl6 for wolf3d i.e. auidohed.wl6, audiot.wl6, etc. and everything with the extension sod for SoD) and copy them to the ecwolf folder. I'm not sure about this, but you might have to open the app bundle...

Then you should be ready to go.

If you used Windows or Linux, I could give you a better step by step guide.

Okay, I managed to extract the files using Wine but again, ECWolf fails to open. I see the app icon on the dock for a a few seconds and then it disappears. I think there's something wrong with the Mac version of ECWolf. The dev team probably have to update it.

You could ask on the official forum or send him an email.

A Mac user that I've asked, said that you should run Console app and search for “ECWolf” to view the application log.
