So my game crashes if I invoke the Gem of Power. It's supposed to give you the Power Strike skill, but instead I instantly get a CTD. I get the same behavior if I try to scribe a book the character is the wrong class for.

Anyone know how to fix these problems? At leat the first one?

If you patched the game with CF 4.19, then this is a known bug.
Wait for a few days till 4.20 comes out, download it and re-patch the game.
