Worked fine as recently as a couple months ago, but now I'm getting "An unexpected error has occurred" at launch.

Various compatibility settings don't change anything.

Did a recent Windows 10 update hose it?

Nah, it works fine for me. This error usually happens when you provide wrong wiz8 directory at the start, so check this first.

Not CosmicForge, this is just the save game editor. Doesn't matter where the editor is; there's a separate Open button for save game files. But it's not even getting that far along.

Also having problems running Wiz8Fast to tweak the config file. It's saying "can't find Wix8.CFG, please place in Wiz8 folder"...but it is. That could be permissions, tho, as it's never run. (Wiz8Fast is supposed to help speed up combat movement by speeding up NPC movement, which *is* horribly slow. So I'll play with this more.)

EDIT: FOUND the fix for Wiz8Fast. It was reading the registry for an old path. Cleaned up a bunch of keys, changed the path, ran. Now it's time to take over the world.

Wasn't talking about cosmic forge. My wiz8 simple editor always asks for wiz8.exe path at the start and that's where this error appears. If yours doesn't, perhaps there's also registry issue similar to wizfast problem.

That's possible, I suppose. Altho WHY things changed suddenly, I don't know. Before the tweaks to get Wiz8Fast to work...which really helps get through combats, for sure...I hadn't touched anything in ages, that I can recall.
