Vriaeliss.185: This game is definitely coded based on the Apple II engine, opposed to NES and some other remakes. Spell mechanics from that version (and remakes using this engine):
Lakanito – Combat
Kills all monsters in a group. Each monster has a chance of (Level * 6%) to resist
The description states all enemies, but the target is showing group. It is contradicting itself in the wording.
By level it refers to how many Hit Dice the target has, which is pretty random outside things like Level 10 Mages.
Unlike Makanito, Lakanito doesn't ignore spell resistance either. EG: It'll work on Will o' Wisps, but they have to fail to resist twice, once v. the spell specifically, and again with the spell resistance. Same deal with things like Greater Demons. It's possible to even Lakanito WERDNA (at least it was, haven't tried this version) but the statistics aren't in your favor.
Makanito and Zilwan for reference, since it will specify when spell resistance is a factor.
Makanito – Combat
Kills all monsters in a group. Does not affect undead, or any monsters with 8 or more hit dice. All others have no chance to resist.
Is saying that it targets a group, then states in description that it works on all monsters with less than 8 hit dice, not just one group.
Zilwan – Combat
10d200 damage to one monster. Only affects undead. Subject to Spell Resistance.
