Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord
How to Install Custom Portraits

As of Release 0.2, Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord supports the importing of user-generated portraits. Custom portraits must be manually added to a specific directory to be recognized by the game.

Supported Image Formats
* The game supports most 512x512 image formats (PNG, JPG, GIF, etc.).
* Animated GIFs are not supported
* Image must be exactly 512x512 pixels to work properl

For GOG players, the portrait images need to be placed in this directory:
C:\GOG Galaxy\Games\Wizardry\murphy\Content

To locate the GOG installation directory on your computer, follow these steps:
1. In the GOG Galaxy client, select Installed under Games on the left navigation pane.
2. Right click the Wizardry tile.
3. Select "Manage Installation" then "Show folder."
4. Open the “murphy” directory. Then open the “Content” directory.
5. In the Content folder, make a new folder called “CustomPortraits”.
6. Place any portraits you wish to import into Wizardry into this folder.

You can organize your images within CustomPortraits into folders, but the game will only recognize subfolders one level deep. For example, the images placed within CustomPortraits\Vampires will be recognized, but any images in CustomPortraits\Vampires\Sparkling will not show up in-game.

Be sure the game is not running when you add any images to the CustomPortraits directory.

Once the portraits are added, you may access them in the Create Character or Edit Character areas of the Training Grounds. They will be available in the list of portraits under the Custom header, following all the included Lineage Portraits.

As of today, there are two "official" image packs that you can download to use with this feature.

The first pack offers 10 images of some of the scarier enemies you'll encounter in the Maze, just in time for Halloween:

The second is a gift from our friends at Red Hook Studios, featuring character portraits seen in the Darkest Dungeon series. They were nice enough to send us 12 character portraits for you to use:

A copy of these instructions is included with both of these image packs.

Thank you for your suggestions and support during our early access phase of Wizardry development. Your continued feedback is encouraged in these forums. Enjoy!

Thanks for this info. Might I suggest utilizing "sticky" post functionality for this and other "official" information, so the posts do not get buried?
