I always loved the wing commander games but didn't get much chance to play them when I was young so it was great when I saw they were all here for so cheap. I noticed privateer 1&2 which I hadn't heard of and I was wondering if these are worth getting too. I do like open-ended games.

Thanks.

Privateer 1 is a must buy! I have both, not got round to P2, but for $2.99 I recommend picking it up and seeing what you missed!

Privateer 2 I would pretty much say avoid. Much good can be said about it but also some really, really bad things.
Privateer 1 is a different game than the normal Wing Commander series.
The Wing Commander series are very story focused.

Privateer is more open ended. Do whatever you want. Trade, be Bounty hunter, pirate, whatever you like.
Also it should be noted it looks like crap by todays standard. But if you like the open ended nature of it there are very few games that can compete with it.

So I guess its up to you. (Hint, trying it / them out is not exactly expensive)

[EDIT: Just saw in your post that you stated you liked open ended games, so go for it :) ]

I wholeheartedly support Privateer 1! If you enjoyed the WC games and like open-ended games, you want to give this one a shot.

In fact, check your inbox! :)
OK thanks and I'm definitely going to try out privateer 1 now ;)

I will probably be in the minority, but I think you would be ill-served skipping Privateer 2. I enjoyed it a lot and the FMV sequences are definitely worth the price of admission.

I'm not saying it's an "OMG THIS IS SO GREAT MY PANTS ARE SCREAMED OFF BY THE WONDER", but there aren't any games like that anymore.
Except maybe NintendoLand.

Get P2. You'll have fun.

I fully agree with you. =)
Privateer 2 is mostly a victim of misslabeling, if it had been called Doctor Who: The Darkening, things would have been looked very differently. =P
Privateer 1 is impossible to play! How can you control anything with a messed up mouse like this? Fix this issue before you release something like this, gog.
