Ok, so I've got Wing Commander working with Munt, but I seem to be trying to do something that is impossible in Windows 8.1. When I go and play WC and enable video capture (Ctrl-Alt-F5 for video and F8 to record the midi), it seems impossible to even try to convert or play the avi files in anything like AVS4You or VirtualDub. Even tried installing the ZMBV codec dll, and AVS4You and VirtualDub still says it isn't installed (Even though I do have the K-Lite Codec installed.)

With Munt, when recording video, you get three files:
One AVI with the midi mixed in, but the only thing you get in the video is:
1kb allocated
Loading install.dat
Loading Wing Commander. Please Wait...
Expanded Memory Detected

Then you get the midi file with the background music and sounds
The 3rd file is just the ZMBV video which I can play in Media Player Classic. VLC won't even play it.

HOWEVER, when Munt wasn't installed, I could capture video, and it had the audio in the file. (Of course, I last tried this in Windows 7 or 8, but not 8.1)

I sort of solved one problem. However, at least now if I open the AVI file, the midi plays along with it. Just need to convert the midi to wav and somehow convert the ZMBV avi to a regular AVI that I can mux the audio and video together. (I want to put together a "lets play" sort of thing on YouTube. I did manage the first three missions on YouTube over a year ago)
Of all things... it was because I had to install ffdshow... K-Lite Codec no longer even includes this as part of the codec pack.
Hi!

I recommend not using the DOSBox built-in video capture. It works well with internal FM sound but when you record external MIDI sound you will find that the video and sound will go out of sync.

I had such issues that I ended up building real DOS machines and captured footage externally.

For some reason DOSBox also does not like FRAPS or Banidcam unless in Window mode.
