Hi, I've bought Wing Commander IV and it's AWESOME.
But, during gameplay, the game screen is pillarboxed (with black mattes on both sides of the screen), but during movies, it is fullscreen (actually just a little bit letterboxed).
There's some way to make it fullscreen, or at least as large as when it plays movies and cutscenes?
Thanks in advance.

Hi LucasJSR!

I made this MASSIVE GOG.com DOSBox video tutorial. It is not quite 2 hours long (split into many smaller videos) and it covers the issue you are talking about.

Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0PWVnFmlR8&list=PL20C65EBEFE6CB109&feature=view_all

I do recommend that you take the time to watch from the beginning as many DOSBox games that GOG.com sells aren't setup ideally :)

I really hope this helps you out!

Video 6 and 7 are the ones you are looking for in case you just want to fix the issue and go back to gaming :D

Thanks for the help, Mau1wurf1977. I really liked your tutorials and I'll surely watch them all later, but unfortunately this doesn't resolves my problem, because Wing Commander IV does not uses DOSBox...
Well, I don't think it's a really big issue, so I think I'll play the game the way it is...
Thanks again.

WIthout us adjusting the patches the game uses, I'm not sure if there's a solution. The problem is that the game is 4:3 aspect ratio... The original movies are actually letterboxed quite a bit so the patch somewhat crops the DVD videos so they fill out the screen appropriately on a 16x9/16x10 monitor. To fill out the screen with the spaceflight and gameflow sequences would mean that you would either cut off parts of the picture (unacceptable) or have the image distorted and streched across the width of the monitor. It's certainly a possibilty but not one that was chosen for this release... I don't know of any way to force this at the moment but I'm sure a solution could be worked out.

Its not the ideal solution as its not using the monitors native resolution, which can degrade an lcd's picture quality slightly, but have you tried lowering your desktop screen resolution. I'll often bump my screen resolution down to 1024x768 on my 1080p 16:9 lcd tv to get rid of the pillar box effect while playing older games like this which usually takes care of the problem.
