Hey,

I've been trying to pass the mission where you are flying as Hobbes as your wingman for the first time. I just can't seem to beat the enemies at NAV 2. There are like four of them, one being an ace I think. I've tried to save all my missiles for the ace but I think he is just too fast and evades them? It's hard to hit him and he can shoot at me even when I'm right behind him. Usually Hobbes dies trying to fight the other three ships. I've died many many times and just can't survive x.x I'd welcome any tips, please.
Hmm let me refresh my memory on gamefaqs...

Okay I remember a little from this one. Try to get a kill while they're still flying formation. Try to flank them whil Hobbes rushes ahead though, so you can avoid 5 fighters shooting directly at you. You could try to get Hobbes to focus on the ace (C the 3 while you're locked on the target I believe). Try to get in real close before unloading your missles. If you can try to fire at him from the sides since he can fire in front and behind.
Take out the 3 other first and leave the Ace for last if you have trouble with him.

Also use afterburners. Use them to speed up towards him, shoot, speed away etc.
Afterburners are IMO - one of the most offensive "weapons" in the game.

And if all else fails; try to ram him :D

If Hobbes have trouble staying alive, then try to send him home (return to base).
Thanks for the suggestions. I must admit I ended up running away from them because they didn't seem to be critical for a mission success!
Yeah if your mission is to just touch the nav points there's no shame in running. In Wing Commander 1 you got more medals for staying and fighting but in Wing Commander 2 there's no awards or promotion system so running when you don't need to fight doesn't effect anything.
