I just found this site and was thrilled to see both WCIII and IV available for windows vista. I wanted to make sure i had everything though before I went ahead with my purchases. Do we need to download our own copy of dosbox or does the copy of WC come with it? I know that these games are extremely old and I grew up during the age of DOS so I still remember some basic commands, but I was wondering at the ease of install on these games. I'll be trying to run them on a laptop with vista and an intel core 2 duo processor. If anyone has a similar setup that could give me any tips for a first time buyer/installer that would be awesome. This looks like a great site, If these work like I think they will I may buy a lot more.

Thanks for the help!

All GOG games come with whatever is necessary to play them (DOSBox, scummVM, etc...) wrapped. As a fellow gamer who grew up during the days of DOS/command prompt, it always warms my heart to see others of that era of gaming around here. You are pretty much good to go, if a game needs any more "tweaking" there are usually tips in the forums of the individual games on the site. Though, in my experience, that last part seems to be a rare occurrence for the most part.
Thanks for the reply. I can't wait to dig into some of these games. I just finished reading Ready Player One and the whole book is about 80s culture, specifically game/film/tv culture. It really got me nostalgic for some of those simpler games. I can't wait to get back to the wing commander series and even those adventure games like Zork. Thanks for the speedy reply, and if you are a fellow 80s gamer like me check out Ready Player One...it is truly a blast from the past.
No problem, I am happy to see games I grew up with on here that I've either lost (thanks to an ex-roommate >.>), had trouble running, or never gotten to play, and what have you. I remember seeing the book, but I have yet to read through it. As much as I love modern tech, I am an 80s kid through-and-through. Zork was one series I've always had a love fore, and it seeded my love of adventure games (both text, point and click and the like) to this day.

As much as I love those classics, I would still love to see Lucas Arts breakdown and actually release their catalog on GOG, but the likelihood of that happening is pretty slim. It's also the reason why I purchased a chunk of the LA catalog on Steam. With the recent release of the TT games (their versions of Sam & Max, and Monkey Island) there is always a chance to see the classic LA titles hit. Speaking of which I need to dig out my copy of X-Wing vs TIE Fighter to see if I can get it running.

Well, welcome to GOG, please enjoy your stay, a lot of the community is very fast to replies about questions you may have. Remember to keep your chairs and trays in their upright positions. And, as always, thank you for flying GOG Air!
