After the initial Wing Commander Origin startup scene I get a box that says "Enter 5: "

and it seems to freeze up, can't type anything.

Both WC1 and WC2 seem to work fine...any ideas what the problem is?

Also as an aside, any word on getting Wing Commander: Prophecy on GOG? That game was crazy good.

Hi,

I do not quite understand your problem but at least on my compy things often work fine if I access games 'on foot' sotospeak (c:, cd [directory name] etc., [filename]) through my regular DOSBox installation instead of through the respective desktop shortcuts - for example it also solved my problem of the speech in the various WC2 intros stopping after about a second if I run the game through their respective shortcuts. If this does not help a complete re-install might.

It is, I think, a remnant of the copy protection that required the player to look up some numbers in the manual and type those in. Whoever cracked the copy protection apparently did not bother removing the actual prompt, instead just changing the text and making the game accept any answer.

In short, just type in any number and hit Enter.
