So, what’s this game about?
Heart of the Forest is a narrative adventure game, and the first video game adaptation of the legendary tabletop role-playing game Werewolf: The Apocalypse!
You play as Maia, a young Polish-American who’s returned to her roots – she’s searching for answers about her family, and her strange dreams of Puszcza: the last primeval forest in Central Europe.
Do I need to be familiar with the World of Darkness?
Nope, you’re good either way. Heart of the Forest is an origin story, so you can follow along with Maia as she discovers the secrets and concepts of Werewolf: The Apocalypse — as well as the fascinating history of the very real primeval Puszcza near the Polish-Belarusian border.
All you really need is a fondness for reading and making difficult choices.
Can I create my own character?
You’ll always play as Maia, a young Polish-American woman. But Heart of the Forest is a game that constantly tracks and defines your personality and traits through choices. So in a way you will create your own version of Maia.
How many endings are there?
There are five “main” endings in the game. But the better question is...
How many middles are there?
There’s over 200,000 variations of how your story might play out. We’re talking about all the variants like the order in which you choose to approach stories in the game, as well as how those moments actually play out.
How long to beat?
It all depends on how fast you read and how quick you are at making difficult choices — but it should take around four hours to complete the story once. Of course, we encourage you to then try at least one more playthrough and see what could have been.
Can I die in this game?
Everything you do leads to a legitimate ending. Now, whether you’re satisfied with your choices and how your story played out — that’s only for you to know!
