A few other notes (based off the IBM PC original):
* The only way to get more skill points is to raise your IQ at level up. Also, note that there are some skills, not available at the start, thar require more IQ than a character can start play with.
* Skill point costs double with each level; as a result, it is impractical to get more than 1 or 2 levels in a skill with skill points. In fact, in the original version (at least on DOS IIRC), it's possible for the cost to get so high that it is treated as negative; in the remaster, I'm guessing this would be fixed so you would have to pay 255 per additional skill level (which is not practical for obvious reasons).
* Different libraries offer different skills; I remember one library located in a dungeon that offers only a single skill, but it's a skill you can't get anywhere else.
* To raise a skill by usage, the task must be difficult enough. When it comes to weapon skills (this includes Pugilism), this is based off the enemy's armor; you can get more skill increases by punching enemies that wear stronger armor, regardless of how strong said enemies actually are. (There are high armor low health enemies, as well as the reverse, in this game.) Also, some tasks give a greater chance of a skill increase; for example, throwing a spear gives you a better chance of a skill increase than fighting with a club.
* Except at character creation, no skill can be raised above the character's level; to raise the skill any higher, you must radio in and level up.
