When I wandered into this trap the first time, my whole team got flattened.
I came back 10+ levels and at least one gun/armour tier upgrade later and it was doable.
However, now I'm thinking this is a huge waste of ammo.

While the tankbot gives a lot of xp compared to a single bot, this battle is just plain tedious with the little buggers respawning on the field! :-s
It gets to spawn 4 little bots every three rounds, whos total damage output is equal to the tankbot itself.
These little things are hackable, but to even have a moderate chance at that, you have to have computer 10.

Every other aspect of this game says post nuclear scavenger life, where you have to scrounge or trade for every single bullet; then this whole spawning bot minions thing breaks the established rules of the game.
Considering how well designed most of this game is (minus destroying my aesthetic clothing in that one area), this whole tank with free minions thing seems poorly thought out.

Do the rest of you agree or just didn't bother you when enemies just keep spawning?
Assuming Wasteland 1, because that's what I am familiar with:

I don't remember any other enemies in the encounter with the scorpion tank. The one thing of note is that the tank has high defense, so anti-tank weapons work really well against it since they ignore defense. Of course, they're expensive, but there isn't much need for them.

Also, in my experience, the enemies that respawn in Wasteland 1 generally can be dealt with in melee, so you don't actually use up any ammo. The final dungeon may be an exception, but you should have plenty of ammo by then, plus the final recruitable character comes with ammo.

(Also, you should specify which game you are talking about when you make a new topic.)

As you speak about the bots, I assume is Wasteland 2, the thing is that the "feral" skorpitron, was a small testing for the semi-final battle. Before the Director Cuts, there was a certain point where you almost catch the bad guys, but one of them left behind, with sentries and... another Skorpitron. So suddenly, you had a battle where all the types of weapons were used against your party (and you had only 4 rounds before the bots begin to be spawned).

By the way, I remember be able to destroy the bots in one round (with either laser weapons, bladed and blunt weapons). I never tried to hack them, with party around lvl 18 and another one around 24 (This is Ranger difficult settings). Plus a party in the director cut version in supreme jerk, but I think my party lvl was above 30 (yet, the bots were a hit-first-or-die).

And another thing, the Wasteland 1's skorpitron, was "optional" and probably one of the most nasty battles, so, this had to be similar challenge with him (technically, I got hidden inside of a house for days for recovering HP)

Right. I forgot this was a shared forum for the entire series, having never played #1.

Thanks for the tips on the original anyway; I may give it a go later. :-)

O..O
I haven't finished W2 yet; I tried to skim/skip most of what you said because spoilers.
Re: W1 tankbot is optional: good to know.

Look guys my entire point in this post is that endlessly spawn minibots is immersion and game breaking, in a world where resources are supposed to be very scarce.
Anyone agree with that?

NOPE
Once you end the game you will understand.

P.d. my spoiler is for Wasteland 2, not the Director Cut.
