I've just purchased WBC2, and the damn thing keeps crashing... It starts and runs OK, right up until I choose my army in the campaign mode. After generating the terrain, I get a generic "Warlords Battlecry has encountered a problem and needs to close..." message from Windows (I'm running 8.1, fully up to date as of latest Windows update cycle) and it boots me back to the desktop.

There's no indication of what causes the crash, as everything else appears fine. I've reloaded the game a few times just to make sure this isn't a one-off crash, and every time I try to start a campaign battle, the game crashes in the same place.

Has anyone else encountered this, and if so, what was the fix, if any?

My system is running an i7 with 16GB of RAM and GeForce 970.

Did you picked the highest resolution? If so - did you tried lower once? I had a simillar case - game crashing whevener I wanted to start a battle, until I choose lower resolutions. Sadly... I don't remember which one was the correct one now... I would recommend starting with highest and go down to see what happens.

That was it! I dropped the resolution to 1280 * 1024 and it worked like a charm! The highest res setting must have been what was causing the crash. Cheers!
