Here are links to prominent mods and unofficial patches for WBC3 for anyone interested:

GOG version of unofficial patch (1.03.24) - Changelog (GOG only added the fix for invisible units)
Non GOG version of unofficial patch (1.03.25) (requires the 1.03.2 version of the unofficial patch near the bottom of the page)
Ahatch's version 1.03fix. (alternate download link)

So long as vampirism will finally work with the monk class, I am happy. I do so hope somebody got around to fixing that. Time to reinstall and find out.

I just installed v1.03.25 (over v1.03.2) but in the main menu, in the lower left corner, it says 1.03.23 Fix! Did I do something wrong?

I bought Warlords Battlecry III on the last summer sale and I am happy to find that the game has been left at the official 1.03 patch. It works surprisingly well on Windows 7 with a widescreen monitor and the game is exactly as I remember it. :)

Hi! Just to be sure i understood it before i buy the game on this platform too, the last patch is a GOG only thing, with the known problems resolved in the unofficial patches like crashes, stuck on snow, compatibility on new os etc but with no "you're buildings are being converted" every 3 seconds, broken vampirism, summons totally nerfed etc?

In light of the recent unpatching of the Warlords Battlecry III installer, we have put up another new installer (version 2.2.0.14 of our installer) that is patched to version 1.03, uses no mods, and is fixed to work without the unofficial patch :)

We have fixed the problem caused by the ancient copy protection and how it affected the random number generator. The random number generator should no longer be broken and the game should work properly as advertised :)

If something is still awry, please don't hesitate to write to Support :)

Mind you this discussion was started almost 4 years ago, so my memory may be a bit hazy on the matter, but from what I remember there's really no difference to the game files, just an update of the GOG installer. Some Galaxy-related files may been added as well.

You'll get version 1.03, with no mods or otherwise unofficial patches applied (I can confirm that because I still have it installed). I'm not sure if GOG has cherry-picked any fixes on top of the original retail version - guess you can ask Judas about that.

Well, I actually played Warlords II - the 1993 DOS/Win 3.11 TBS strategy game, if that is what you meant. The Battlecry series is cut from a different mold, with the switch to RTS and all.

WB3 is the first I got to play from the Battlecry series and it instantly became a personal classic. I even keep it installed these days and give it a spin every once in a while, so it's got to be doing something right!

I guess for such a good game I am glad I got it for only $5.99! The one I still play on one of my older Laptops (WIN XP ) is Warlords III Darklords Rising - My all time favorite.
