The fix for this bug is applied in a form of registry edit at the end of installation process. Apparently something on your PC prevented registry change.

Re-install the game as administrator, preferably somewhere outside Program Files folder. That should be enough.
I tried that(installed in to a folder on my desktop) and it didn't work without the Compatibility Mode, still invisible. When I turn on the Compatibility Mode on, the game freezes either at the "Generating Random Map" screen, or(If I'm not using a random map) a split second after the game starts up, still with invisibly units.

Remove any compatibility settings.
Go to installed game folder and double click 'WarlordsBattlecry.cmd' file.
If you have file extensions hidden, it should be the one described as 'Windows Command Script'.
When I do that, a Command Prompt window comes up, then a second one flashes onscreen briefly before they both disappear. As far as I can tell, the second one says something like "Error: Cannot find file C:/Windows/System32/WarlordsBattlecry.sdb"

I sent you a PM with the same replay, but in case someone else run into similar issue I'm reposting it here.

The error you got is not exactly what I would expected, I've no idea why cmd would look for .sdb file in Windows folder when you're running it locally from game directory. But anyway, if we specify both paths directly, it should work.

Please open that WarlordsBattlecry.cmd file in notepad and change the first line to something like this (quotes are mandatory):

"c:\windows\syswow64\sdbinst" "[YOUR GAME FULL PATH]\warlordsbattlecry.sdb"

^ that's for 64bit systems, if you have 32bit Windows, replace syswow64 with system32.

For example, for me it would look like:
"c:\windows\syswow64\sdbinst" "W:\GOG.com\Warlords Battlecry\warlordsbattlecry.sdb"

I've removed '-q' switch, that way you should be notified if the fix was applied correctly or not. In this case, '-q' stands for silent install.

Please let me know if that works, normally you shouldn't have to go through all this just to play the game. However, you are the first person to report such problem.
"A file with the same ID was found, replace it?(Yes/No):Yes
Uninstallation of GoG Warlords Battlecry complete.
Installation of GoG Warlords Battlecry complete."

P.S. Just as a note, I'm trying both of these on both my 64x Desktop and my 32x Laptop, and neither worked, units still invisible.

In that case, could you use this link and contact our Support?

Please remember to attach DxDiag report, preferably from both computers. That will allow us to take a proper look at this issue.
I have no idea how to get a DxDiag report.
I forgot what caused this, but I remember fixing it. I don't have this problem with GOG version, but I had it when I had the WBC2 and WBC3 disk. Not sure what GOG did, but for me it works out of the box. I don't have WBC1 however, so maybe something else is up.

However...since you have the problem I used to have...

I think what you have to do is put the client into windows XP compatible mode. Can try google searching if that doesn't work, as it is a semi-common problem. But pretty sure compatible mode with XP fixed it.

Also try setting it to admin mode and if that doesn't work either, try setting it to 256 colors...which is sometimes suggested as a fix.

dylan003: I have no idea how to get a DxDiag report.
- press 'WinKey +R'
- type dxdiag in 'Run' window that appears
- [optionally] skip driver certification check
- choose 'Save All Information' at the bottom
Actually, I don't think that's necessary. I just found out that the game runs correctly when my Webroot SecureAnywhere is off. Now I just need to find a way to allow it through Webroot so I can play while Webroot's still on.

Something else I found out, if I run it through Steam, it also fixes the glitch, even if I have my Antivirus on.

When I had this trouble I ran compatibility xp service pack 2 (a web site recomended service pack 3 but it wasnt an option)and ran as admin and no issues since
